I don't know how up-to-date you all are on things in the education sector, but there are some pretty big things going on right now. Online learning has been a hot topic in higher education now for nearly a decade. Recently there have been some big advances and opportunities. The most hyped is called MOOCs. This is short for Massive Open Online Courseware. The vision behind it is opening the doors of colleges and universities to any student that wants to participate.
The biggest leap in this direction happened with two roboticists from Stanford. They hosted a MOOC that drew 160,000 students from various places around the world. They recently branched out into a separate institution. But Harvard, MIT, and UC Berkeley joined forces to open a non-profit organization called edX. They offer 3 free introductory level courses in computer programming and one in artificial intelligence. They claim the course is difficult, but at the end you get a certificate from MITx, HarvardX, or BerkeleyX.
Its free to enroll and is a good opportunity to diversify your resume.

I think technology will definitely become the predominant way of learning; if you look back just a few years, most schools were still using chalkboards and now we have some really cool technology for learning. It's definitely something to look out for and although there are some disadvantages of learning in that way, it has some great advantages too!
