Re: Ebola Catastrophy
#101On another note it appears that the strain most prominent in Africa is the bat developed strain is it safe to say that we in America are only dealing with the 1 type of ebola?
Of what I know, there's only one strain affecting humans at the moment (unless there was a mutation somewhere down the line...)On another note it appears that the strain most prominent in Africa is the bat developed strain is it safe to say that we in America are only dealing with the 1 type of ebola?
http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs103/en/SARS was actually a highly contagious and severe infection. However, the countries it was detected in and spread to took very quick action before it could do anything major. SARS, like Ebola, has no cure. What's more, let's not forget that SARS was a respiratory disease and so is significantly easier to transmit than Ebola: SARS can be transmitted through the aerosol droplets of sneezing or coughing whereas Ebola can't, for example. The main reason why Ebola is spreading is because of its country of origin and its sanitation and availability of healthcare.
There's racism and then there's facts. They do have such rituals and though they dont all practice them a fair enough amount do that it becomes an issue. Its sort of obvious he's not being racist about it... Just because someone lists a persons race followed by unfortunate details doesn't mean they naturally think they're superior to them. The problem is Africans have ritual, a burial which require close contact to a dead person that means they come into contact of bodily fluids which help spreads Ebola. Not only does Ebola infect primates but bats also. I doubt that it will spread all over America since America is more developed than Africa is.
Quite racist to apply this to "Africans"
Please don't use the race apple... Its childish and unhelpful to future generations

Stereotyping is being racist. Throwing in a blatently racist comment as if we don't know what racism is in pretty poor taste also. Its being sterotypicalThe problem is Africans have ritual, a burial which require close contact to a dead person that means they come into contact of bodily fluids which help spreads Ebola. Not only does Ebola infect primates but bats also. I doubt that it will spread all over America since America is more developed than Africa is.

Being racist is like saying black people are dumber than white people and they are always poor and stupid
I guess I'm in trouble now because I'm both races (sarcasm)Its being sterotypicalThe problem is Africans have ritual, a burial which require close contact to a dead person that means they come into contact of bodily fluids which help spreads Ebola. I would think because there is no vaccine/ cure. Doesn't matter how small it's still people dying and could be one of us or a family member. Even if you feel that it shouldn't get this much attention it's here, it's real and it can come our way. No other massive deaths can make ebola harmless to the human population. Even if it's small in numbers now it can spread world wide. ..Ebola isn't a catastrophe.
Over 1,300,000 people die every year from road crashes. An additional 20-50 million are injured or disabled.
Births worldwide is estimated at about 134 million per year.
Making Ebola harmless to the human population.
Labelling 4000+ Ebola deaths a catastrophe is retarded.
Apart from propaganda, i can't think of many other good reasons as to why it should be getting this much attention.
It is in fact so small and completely irrelevant to all of us.
Current estimates are that between 75 and 200 million people died from the Black Death.
That many humans being annihilated in such a small amount of time is what I'd call a catastrophe.
