A foetus is not able to do any of that outside of the uterus. Would you honestly say the same if it was your wife/girlfriend that was raped? I do think that sometimes people forget that the mother is a life as well.

If(in a theoretical situation were i had a wife) my wife was raped i would have to ask for Gods help on(whether or not to hire an assassin to kill the rapist jk )what to do. It would be a difficult decision but my decision would be whether to raise the child as my own or to let it be adopted. I would not abort the child. Also my point in posting the definition was to say that it doesn't say anything about being able to live on its own.

I think that guns are fine. It's some of the people behind the trigger that can be bad. But i am definately pro-NRA.

But that's the point...it's not a plant; it is a human life. A baby after it is born is barely aware of anything besides the basic needs; but i doubt anyone would say it was fine to kill a baby right after birth. And who says it doesn't have self awareness? I mean none of us can remember being that small so how do we really know what they feel?

NRA... *Shudders* Scary people. Lol. I do think it is the people to blame but I would rather have an idiot attempting their plans without such easy access to a death tool... I mean, I understand some basic defence but why not get a taser or pepper spray? And for hunting... Do you really need so many rounds and such powerful weapons? It's like people expect the animal to return fire...

In the Uk, your average officer does not even carry a gun but rather a baton. In fact, they just recently (relatively recent at least) started using tasers.

There are not a lot of guns over there, compliments of actual regulations. Besides, a taser can disable someone just as well as a gun shot to nonvital point (which police are supposed to target...) and you minimise the excess damages of going to the hospital, damaging surrounding objects, misfiring on an innocent civilian, etc.

In any case, if it is known that the situation involves guns, the special ops are used.

I find it striking that no where in your theoretical assessment does the woman's opinion come into play.

Is that really a reflection of your opinion, or simply an oversight? Do creationists really interpret the Bible so literally that Genesis 3:16, Timothy 2:12 and the many other instances become a fundamental part of your view of society?

I also find it interesting that you refer to the hypothetical child once as an "it," rather than as a he/she/the child, as in "...or to let it be adopted." I wonder if that is not a slip as to how you would actually view the product of a rape.

Just food for thought. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you didn't really think your response through... but you might want to be careful going forward, as that sort of terminology isn't going to work so well here in the 21st century (some fundamental Islamic countries notwithstanding).

Don't have time for full reply but the difference between abortion and the death sentance is huge. Someone who gets the death sentence is someone who did something wrong. God gave the government the right to give out the death sentence. Abortion is when you kill a baby. Plain and simple. The baby hasn't done anything agaisnt the laws of that country or the law of God. Also all your examples of how the bible is contradictory are poor and most are taking out of context and a couple are just wrong.

Yes and when god sent Noah's flood or purged whole peoples from the land god murdered babies. Innocent babies whose only crime was being born. There are multiple references to gods actions in this regard in the bible.

Not to mention that by far the most aborted pregnancies are natural - gods work again. Only with science has this number dropped drastically. No religion has been shown to increase the likelihood of a healthy full term pregnancy.
