Please watch what you're saying to each other. I'm sure you can discuss a topic without resorting to insults or comments about other people's beliefs. Everyone is free to believe what they want to.

I've just gotten 1 warning removed for good behavior, so I won't tell you what's on my mind right now. Just know that I had quite a long string of curse words directed at you and your stupid beliefs.
Says the person who thinks people will be punished after they die therefore should not be treated so harshly lmao..

EDIT: Copy that Dexxa. Just annoys me when it is assumed everyone debating is religious.

They do have a right to their belief. This topic is a topic regarding peoples views on the Death Penalty. Obviously that's their view on it, their view does not need to be rebutted and nor does your own. You both make very valid points and clear views on the Death Penalty.

*Back on topic*

One of my main arguments is this:

If the goal of any punishment is to teach us those things we should not do, then the justice system should more adequately teach the criminality of killing by refusing to partake in it.
Once they are dead theyre not being taught anything and it will discourage other criminals as theyre is no escape from death yet there is escape from prison you'd be amazed at some of the prison break stories and how ludicrous that it ever worked yet it did

Sorry but the facts prove you wrong Friddo.

The US had a 2013 murder rate of 4.8 victims per 100,000—meaning that nearly 15,000 people were victims of homicide that year.

Capital punishment does not appear to be doing its job; it doesn’t seem to be changing every criminal’s mind about killing innocent people.

This begs the response: If it does not appear to be doing the very job it was put to do, then it serves no purpose and the warning of life in prison without parole is a better alternative.

Your fore getting the death penalty is only for the worst criminals not people who killed in self defense or only once so its not like heaps of people are getting killed, only serial killers etc the worst ones

Thats actually a good reason why to add death penalty, its obvious that most ppl dont murder, so those who actually kill several victims (which also highers the average) are the ones who should be sentenced for death, regardless if it'll prevent or reduce future serial killers appearing, it'll simply get rid of a person with very high potential of murdering more ppl. U could say 'jail him for life', but that helps no one, its like torturing the criminal himself while the civils pay taxes for it.
