Yes I'm pretty sure mars is on a axis... But it doesn't have a atmosphere... So no seasons.

One of the main benefits of going to Mars is that it may contain various minerals which are running out here on Earth. If we were able to mine them and transport them back to Earth somehow (that is, if these minerals were there under the surface) it could really benefit us.

After all, going to Mars sounds a bit easier than the plan to capture passing asteroids that one company is hoping to do in order to extract various minerals.

or if we really got all the materials we need to help benefit humans, we can blow up mars and then would save us a fight of aliens. or if there are aliens that are friendly, then we should blow up mars even more .
Not playing celtic heroes anymore

Not entirely true, since you have the gravity well of Mars to deal with, and don't have that resource/energy sink for asteroids.

Yeah, but the reason it's so incredible that the mission was a success is...the chances that it wouldn't be.

The rover had to enter the atmosphere and burn into it upon descent...so yer basically talking about a riddiculous array of temperatures and then successfully land and the technology to do that...send an unmanned rover into an alien atmosphere and successfully land and STILL be able to function?

The degree of chance that it would burn up, incinerate, malfunction or any slew of other complications was unheard of...but now it's there collecting data and beaming it back.

For pure technology this is a huge accomplishment and forwards the technology level of our species.
