I wouldn't say Android is low quality. One of the benefits/problems with Android is that Google lets OEMs do pretty much whatever they want to to it. So you end up with an inconsistent user experience from one device to the other. The other problem is that Android works best on more powerful hardware, so if you want a good experience, you really need to try and get the best hardware you can afford. In my honest opinion, the Nexus line is the best option because Google controls the update process on those devices and you are pretty much guaranteed to see at least two major updates. I switched to the iPhone this past February in order to try something different, and I don't see myself switching back anytime soon because I like the idea that when I do eventually replace my iPhone, I don't have to worry about trying to learn a new skin. Plus, I haven't had to restart my phone beyond the required restart after an update, whereas with Android, I was restarting at least once a month.
