you wont have a choice, teehee...u will know when you get "there". i know my game is "most often" stuck at that door while freeing Esbern. i havent patched my game recently, they might have fixed it already.

if u have a house in whiterun..she is there. but get Jenassa from Whiterun instead.
Jenassa is a Dunmer ranger who can be found at a table at the Drunken Huntsman shop in Whiterun. Should the player choose to pay her fee, Jenassa is available as a follower for 500 gold. Tip: most followers dont lvl up with the character, so get ur preferred companion when u are at a relatively high level.

you can actually use shadowmere as meatshield. dragon's love to hunt him, and he fights back. then cast ur arrows while the dragon is distracted.
