Re: Do you think the U.S.A. needs stricter gun laws?

Lol I can probably find multiple forum members that can attest to you being obnoxious.

As to stating untrue facts please explain?

Fact: USA is lax on gun control in comparison to every other developed country

Fact: the USA has the most gun crime per 100 000 people than any other developed country by more than double

Fact: people are more mentally capable of firing a gun than stabbing someone in the chest

Fact: guns provide access to crimes that could not be committed otherwise

Fact: if you can have a gun to protect yourself odds are the guy attacking you has one too and of he has his out first as soon as you reach for yours you're dead

Fact: guns are dangerous

Fact: people kill other people

Fact: guns make this easy

Ok now explain where I wasn't telling the truth...

This is what I'm talking about Uzi, you can't refute my points so you call me a liar and laugh when someone says I'm intelligent. You proved the accusations I made of you. Thanks :)

ok sorry. i only talk intelligent when im bored tired or sad. maybe im obnoxious, thats only because im pretty much hated by everyone, and now have become a third wheel with my "friends".
i will say this now:
maybe i will back off a bit, because u r not stupid, nor an idiot, its just that no offense some of the things that u say aren't necisarrily true.
"if you can have a gun to protect yourself odds are the guy attacking you has one too and if he has his out first you're dead." no, the odds are wrong. so...the guy shoots u and takes off. for what point? usually he takes money or your credit and debit apples, or whatever, but never JUST to kill you, and you have to be ALIVE to to what he wants. so hes not just going to shoot you, when he sees the gun, hes gonna run.

if hes a drug addict and hes after you for money hes gonna shoot
if he has a gun and sees you reaching for a gun the reflex action is to protect himself (shoot) and as i said shooting is easier than stabbing because it doesn't require the same mental process or strain.
someone who is willing to put a gun to your face for something you have isn't usually thinking straight and usually wont back off

at this point pig is just flirting with KAAT by being a bit easier than usual...this has become boring
I dont think so. Your bored because ppl of reason are having an intelligent conversation.
so you say pig is intelligent?... i feel violated and insulted, and offended by the fact that u think im an idiot.
no uzi, i am being "easy" because she doesnt make obnoxious comments or resort to "democrats suck" as her response to something she disagrees with.
i never resort to namecalling, or say facts that aren't true, like your post

I never called you a name or said you were unintelligent. I just refutted your mis guided thought on why u were bored. It is never my intentions to offend or argue with anyone. It is simply not my way.

USA doesnt need more strict laws control.

What it need is to enforce the one in places , more crimes are commit with stolen ,fraudulent purchase guns, blackmarket guns, like all other countries in world . A gun can make a diference between been a survivor or victim , try to protect yourself. With a knife from multiple attackers or attacker with a gun.

A criminal will find the way to get a gun no matter how strict the rules are , but if a law binding citizen get his rigths remove will become a victim.

This was brougth by conneticut incident on december but a few years ago another incident took place in the same state were a family was murder in home invasion .... The history have may be diferent if the homeowner have own and use a gun and because of those events thats it why ppl should have the rigth to bear arms to protect theirselfs.

Don't know how I missed this thread...

Yes. I do think that America needs a few more regulations regarding gun ownership. The idea that the 2nd Amendment shouldn't be altered because it is a right is foolish. If the Amendments were written in stone, there would be no legal alcohol in the U.S.

You would also be agreeing to child hello kitty and racially charged calls of incitement ... Luckily, the Supreme Court has ruled that there are situations when freedom of speech does not apply.

I think part of the problem is that Americans (sorry to generalize) have been brought up with the idea that criminals are lurking around the corner. There is a distinct theme that crops up in this debate and it has been voiced a few times here as well: the idea that guns are for protection.

I am not talking about people like KAAT. Like her, I grew up on a farm. I've been around guns for most of my life. Those guns have, from time to time, helped us out. Our farm boarders a forest, so rabid foxes, raccoons, and coyotes sometimes come near the house.

No, I mean the people who believe that a crook could enter your house at any moment, and that the gun will save you.

Looking at 2011 data, there were about 200 instances of justifiable homicide in the US that year. For those 200 people, that's great... they were able to protect their family. Unfortunately, there were over 850 deaths due to accidental firing in the same year. Some of that was people shooting their teenagers coming home after curfew (thought to be a burglar) some were kids accidentally shooting themselves or their friends, some was due to improper cleaning etc.

Reading the above, I expect that gun proponents would try to argue the following: "But those are only deaths. How many robberies have been prevented due to a warning shot, or simply injuring the intruder." This is true, and I don't know the numbers... but I suspect they wouldn't be terribly different from the number of robberies that were prevented due to a dog's bark, an alarm system, or simply seeing the lights on in the house. Most intruders don't want trouble.

I'm a family man... and sorry, those numbers (1:4) don't justify the ownership to me... not with the gun regulations you have now. Get some trigger locks and keep ammunition separate and I might change my mind.

The truth is that you are highly unlikely to be in quick need of a gun. I don't want to live in the States. It isn't because I am worried about criminals... I would probably never be near one (Wall St. Bankers, excluded  ) No... I fear the average citizen in the States. I would fear that the neighbour kid's father doesn't keep his guns properly locked up; I would fear that the neighbour kid would say "check this out" to my son.

That, as far as I am concerned, is your clear and present danger.
