The gods actions matter to me as a non-believer because so many people in my country mindlessly follow those examples 'in spirit' that it is seriously messing up the entire country. People can't seem to keep completely unfounded belief religion to themselves. It ruins it for everyone.

Well God did destroy Sodom and Gomorrah in the old testament and it was full of homosexuals, so I won't deny that he killed gays. Just a side note though, he didn't destroy them just for being gay, he destroyed them because they whole city was a slough of sin, they went around at night doing some very bad things that they didn't explain in children's church.

I have grown up around Christians, and I guarantee, I have never seen one trying to be a dictator, kill a gay, beat their slave, or hate on blacks. Your stupid trolling stabs are irrelevant.
Dersu brought it up before, Christians are responsible for a huge number of charities and self help programs, they have done a massive amount for the good of this world and yet are among the most persecuted for what they believe.

First off i think you may be confusing what the bible says god did versus what it tells people to do. It tells people to kill gays. God also kills gays. So I see your confusion. God is all powerful don't tell me out of thousands there were no innocents like babies etc. when god murders whole peoples it sickens me morally despite stone age moral reasoning.

The Christian religion has been used to consolidate power outside of political boundaries like borders of countries. There is often a supreme leader who cannot be questioned and dictates to followers who feel they have no choice but to follow. I think it is a good analogy.

Finally I donate around 15 thousand us dollars a year to charities of my choice. I volunteer to pick up trash and help keep my neighborhood clean. I donated weeks of my time in the last year to help teach robotics to school age kids. Probably more than you did but if you are poor I don't expect you to be able to contribute as much. I don't need an all powerful mommy threatening eternal spanking to do good for people.

Christiians only do good because they try to convert people and get thier money. It's nearly completely self serving. It's far more moral to help people and not poison thier brains with religion.

The christian religion is hardly in power in your country (I understand you are American, correct me if I am wrong), and you are supposed to have a separation between your government and your country's religions. So once again, I do not see how this argument is relevant to your crusade against Christianity.

Not only have you just denounced millions of acts of self-sacrifice and kindness as all being self-serving, you have set up your own measly little "good deeds" as superior, the fact that I think your claims are bullcrap aside as it is irrelevant, cleaning your own neighborhood isn't self-sacrifice, its cleaning your own neighborhood, it is logical and also self serving (not that there is a problem with doing things for yourself, but stop trying to appear righteous over something like that, I doubt you risked death torture or disease to rake the leaves), donating to a charity is nice, if you actually donate to a charity, how cute. My brother risked being killed by guerrilla troopers in the Philippines while helping plant rice and my mother nearly died from food poisoning while helping build houses for people who have nothing deep in Mexico. Thank you for saying what they did was completely self-serving and only for the money, I'll remember that next time I read about a christian being tortured to death or the next time I have a personal friend jailed in a 3rd world country for trying to follow what he believes in, its definitely all for the money.

Also, just gonna throw this out there, good people dont need to have people call them good, in the bible we are told many times that god is good, if we removed those chapters, and had someone read the bible, what would god look like? It matters to me because morons blind belief results in deaths. People saying " I don't need vaccines because science is wrong and god will save me" 6 months later, the funeral is held, ignorance kills people.

Dersu dont bother, he is a 10-12 year old, he won't understand, no offence solo but some things just come with age, the brain is of fully developed at age 25, when you are that age you will be able to make a more informed choice based on evidence, hope to see you with us atheists in 15 years time

Many people, if not most, decide things based on social pressure and feelings - facts never enter in. And sadly it only is worse past 25 - many can't face up to themselves that they have been lying to themselves and others their entire life and those around them they are close to are wrong or have also been living a lie. If they haven't been able to see plain reason before that it's probably too late.

A true scientist feels the urge to base their opinions on facts, as I do, if something has no evidence behind it, then it is but a poorly-made theory to me

@eldrick you dare me? I help out at an old persons home occasionally, I litter pick around my local park when ever there is a large amount of litter and I support 3 charities, btw no I don't want respect from pessimistic people such as yourself, what do you do for society, reply, I dare you.

And eldrick, have you even heard of any Christian charities, for example, the majority of them, will go to Africa and give food. They will then give a 2 hour sermon about the food, and if you are one of the african kids who cant be fussed to sit through it because you gotta get water for you family? Tough. No food for you.
