Paddy, no offense, but I couldn't understand what you were trying to say in your statement.

The only way this would happen is if you used the same password in your email as you do in your other passwords.

I mean. No offense, I understand that bad things happen, and I'm always sorry that they do. But when you use same passwords, for more than one thing, and then put those things into the same application or same form...you are opening yourself 100% to identity theft.

It NOT your fault that the database got hacked, but you leave yerself open if that info can be pieced together to take advantage of you.

PS Happy 1 year on forums.

Paddy signed up for a new mmorpg giving them his name and password (mistakenly using his real email password). the games database became compromised and someone then started to use his email.

Right but all this gets solved when:

You either make a dummy email for gaming purposes. Or don't enter the same password into everything.

I try to:

-always use different user ID's
-try to remember to NOT name user ID and character name the same name (it's too easy to break into)
-pick passwords with a Capitol letter, various numbers and letters. You can pick yer favorite sports star like...Kobe Bryant..change it to Kbryant567 "K" is capitalized, bryant ends in a t the exact same place that the letter 5 is on the iOS number keyboard..it's easy to remember. Then for each game pick a different sportstar, or author or whatever kinda of thing yer into. Then no one can guess yer password...since it has Capitol letters and numbers in it and you can just write down in yer notepad: Celtic Heroes: Kbryant567 Shadow Cities: Djeter456 etc... Email: ttebow234

It's all easy stuff to do, and whatever code you find that works best for you, use it....but the point is, find a system, use it.

Because yer doing this to yerself.
