youtube can help you with learning the tricks. for brands there are lots of brands that are good, I use spitfire wheels (bones are also kwool) thunder trucks (they hold the wheels and are used for grinds not counting board slides, tail sides ect.) mob grip tape is dah best imo and im currently using an element deck (most brands aren't very different imo though others will be like the concave and the curve makes all the difference blah blah)

for more opinions on brands ask other skaters for info, never hurts to ask... unless they are D-bags

Haha thanks! Well I went to a skate seller ( there is only this guy who sell skate things in my state o.o ), and I got a revive board, thunder trucks, jessyup ( or something like that ) for the grip tape, Swiss bearing and something called street tech formulas for the wheels.. I was thinking at buying some skate shoes but I don't know what is good.
As for the guys, they are really nice, but I don't feel like talking to them since they are really generous and would gift me some items like they said.

I've seen someone go literally 30 seconds down the road to buy some milk and then back home. Do pointless

I started longboarding last summer. It took me a lot off technology. Not as in downhill but more relaxed touring around. I used to never be able to stand on a skateboard but now I can. I'm thinking of buying one but this summer I've also started kiteboarding.
This summer I've hardly touched games at all and I don't miss it. I just sometimes log in and look around what's new. This may be different when winter begins but I don't regret trying things outdoors without technology. :) i'd say try it! And don't give up.
