so for all my fellow science nerds out there, lets start a discussion about full dive vr! no not like from SAO, microwaves do not create games, im talking brain scanning, writing to the brain, to the helm, and all sorts of fun hyper sleep dream mode stuff!
Lets kick it off with the main question
so we know we have the tech (well sorta) to read/write to the brain and nerves pretty well. the question is, how would you get to the dream like state? screen or dream?

Considering it's poorly understood as to what causes us to sleep, let alone dream, it's going to be a while until we see anything of the sort. I do think of it becomes possible, virtual reality would be cool! As long as it's 100% safe, that is!

I read a fiction novel that had virtual reality gaming as the subject. The real lives of the people meant nothing, they were measured on how well they did in the game. To enter the game, one would lay in a box, attach a few patches to your chest and temples, and the game would take over.
I honestly find this topic extremely interesting, could be a lot of fun. Not exactly the part about being measured in society by in-game successes, but just the scientific aspect of the creation of this type of equipment and gaming style. Very promising and very cool. I would expect this to be the next major form of gaming.

It would be easy to program once neuro science increases, it would be basic binary recoded for the brain. That's why electricity causes us to hold on, it's our cells reacting to electricity, assuming our brain is saying "hold on tight!"

Well, as far as what the neurons in our brain generate and interpret, it's not digital like binary, but rather more akin to analog... Depending on the type of ion gates that ate activated, as well as the type of ions moved, and the number of ions present, really determines the electrical component of the brain. However, there is also the endocrinitic aspect (electrical pulse traverses the dendrite, reaches the synpase, and then releases a hormone which triggers the electrical propogation to begin in the next neuron) which will be darn near impossible to replicate.

The question then becomes, how do we make someone feel simple sensations like pain by either stimulating one (or multiple, selectively) neuron, let alone complex sensations and/or emotions.

well you were closer to the sleep mode than most people think.
here are a few things on the hyper sleep and brain reading.

There is a crazy American Jewish billionaire spending ALOT of money to hire all the techie guys from all over the biggest companies in the world, and it trying to build a virtual reality program so you can read any language and have it converted to your language so no matter what language is on the object it is instantly translated to yours(I believe that is the first step) of course it will be accompanied by other things later

Wouldn't it be easier to just invest that money into the space program and hope to score a Babelfsh first? That's where the money is!
