Serious question for otm

I know otm is based somewhere outside of America. In America we have the first amendment right of freedom of speech. I was wondering if that applies in game because you aren't based in America?

You represent, warrant and agree that you will not engage in conduct or communication (written, verbal, or nonverbal) which could infringe or lead to infringement of any copyright, trademark, publicity or privacy right, or any other intellectual property or personal right of any person or entity, is threatening, bullying, defamatory, abusive, obscene, sexually provocative or suggestive, pornographic, or which in any manner could give rise to any civil or criminal liability under applicable law, constitutes spam, violates any local, state, federal or international laws or gives rise to civil liability, is a solicitation or advertisement for inappropriate conduct, commercial product or activity, violates or infringes any rights of third parties including but not limited to copyright, trademark, defamation or any other proprietary right, places an unreasonable or larger than normal load on the game or disrupts any performance of the game, is junk mail, imitation of being a company employee, attempt to obtain other players login information, attempts to hack or crack the product, or anything that the COMPANY regards as harmful to the COMPANY.
There are some really good discussions relating to freedom of speech on the internet.
I was actually reading a Harvard article on the topic recently:
https://cyber.harvard.edu/ilaw/Speech/
You can have "free speech" on the internet, at the same time you are using a private companies platform for that free speech.

So talking something like politics isn't a breach of the TOS correct?

While not against the TOS on the forums at least we tend to filter out topics on; politics, religion, gun laws, sexuality etc
While I believe there is a place for discussions on those topics we are primarily a forum relating to Celtic Heroes.

So in live not on forums if I'm having a mature political discussion my toon cannot be banned , Correct?

Your toon will be fine so long as you keep the discussion civil.
We tend to mute on first-time chat offenses dependent on how offensive the player is being.

The first amendment only applies to government from restricting your speech. It does not apply to private citizens or organizations from restricting your speech as long as they are not infringing on other rights. For example, if you are in my house and i dont like what you are saying, i can tell you to be quiet or leave. If I did not have that ability, it would be a violation of my property rights. The first amendment does not say that private organizations are required to give people a forum to express their views, otherwise it would be a violation of their property rights. So OTM can restrict your speech as much as they want, the US government(and by extension state and local governments) cannot.

Although lets be honest, they and all governments do it anyway. Freedom of the press/speech is the biggest lie since "I did not have sexual relations with that woman".

I think it is more a being conscious of clannies not having the same views (like starting a religious argument even if it was not saying bad words) and realising not everyone has to have the same opinions or thoughts or beliefs as you but that does not make yours or theirs any better or any worse than the other.
And people come into the game to escape from reality for a bit and I know I don't want to read about any of that while I am online
