I have tried many different resets of the stats for the ranger class.
Now that I have reached level 100, I thought I would share some of what I have learned. Other may see this as repeated info but for new players such as myself, you may find this interesting.
First off I tried a ranger with balanced stats keeping strength and dexterity about equal. I found the ranger was effective but could not delivery enough damage over a short time (damage per second or DPS as referred to here) so he tended to top out at around level 50.
Next i tried the obvious 'max out the dex' style build where in I found right away the higher the dexterity the better the ranger performed. I played a little with some of the other stats but found that equipment bonuses were a better way to make him more survivable.
I do tend to buy a lot of plat, so my guys are well equipped when they go on a leveling run (as I like to call them) and I do use elix and pots a lot ... But what I mention here is without any 'roids pumping the ranger's stats et al.
Here is where my top ranger character who is at level 100, and if you have ever fought with me, you have seen how tough this guy is. He can solo against level 110s and has killed 6 star 100 eyes in Otherworld.
