This works really well for bow and spear, if you wanted to go just spear I would ditch bolas and add into sharpen weps, and take points from Double shot and put them into rapid shot. It's not as great for knucks because knucks don't need high strength but it's still usable.

I am a spear ranger, and yes, they can be good dps if you have double attack and skewer. Skewer does not need to be maxed unless you have extra points. Double attack should be maxed, light heal maxed, entangle maxed, with extra points into rapid shot.

Attack sequence with skewer with no points is usually:
Entangle, mob runs to you
Double attack
One auto
Skewer
One auto
Rapid shot
When rapid runs out auto until double or skewer is ready, or use light heal to top off your health.

Gear for a spear build:
(level 109)
Opal Pike (100 pierce, 3800 speed, 200 spear ability)
Golden Blade of Fire (200 fire damage, 75 strength, obviously an axe would be better)
Heroic Gloves of Haste (pretty much a necessity, without it your dps is significantly decreased.)
An elemental damage helm is recommended, if you're dying fast use a meteoric helm, opal, or whatever you have available.
If you can get a hold of it, rad/greater/lesser es legs are great, because of the added damage, and the loss of armour is countered by the defense added.
For a bp, use whatever you have with the most armour.
Hero boots are pretty good, you can also use pretty much anything you want for this slot.

Heroic Amulet of Rejuv or the 100 req 30 energy and hp regen amulet.

For the misc slot, any elemental damage charm will do, try and get the best one you can, poison is great because not many mobs resist it.

Bracelets: if you're having energy problems get an energy bracelet. As for the other slots, pierce, crush, or slash bracelets as high as you can get work.

Rings, again if you have energy problems get regen in one slot. You can use rings to max out skills, or get ability rings to increase damage and attack.

Make sure to max out spear ability, always.
The build for my level: (rounded)
Str: 215 (290)
Dex: 90
Foc: 50 (use less than this)
Vit: 205 should get you 1.5k hp, or somewhere around that.
That's pretty much it, hope it helps
