crank your dex it applies to your skills and makes your light heal amazing so your more capable to solo. some people liketo crank strength for higher damage but i think spamming dex based skills would be just as, if not more effective imo...from top to bottom i got 76/412/10/157..dont put a single point in focus because items provide enough energy for you to get by. i didnt get frozen yet but have lunar, set bonus is sweet. i try not to break the set unless i have the next set on standby.
skills i use
double shot
sharp shot
sharpen weapons
light heal
although double shot is influence by your damage, it just multiplies a single hit by 2. might be better for a slower attack speed high damage weapon, or if your damage is off the charts, but i like it i guess. I did put some points into longshot but it isnt all that great unless your in a group or have bolas. because you can only get off one shot before the mob is in your face. why i prefer sharp shot. its an immediate attack and it cools down fast making it easy to spam skill. i do have a ring of sharp shot and my damage with it is at 1649 thanks to dex. and my lh is 667 hp. a good support ranger i think would have bolas/longshot/light heal/sharpen weapons at least and maybe even camo to avoid unwanted attacks during boss. so its what your going for.
and rings and such would be influenced by what skills you choose, i got a haste ring so i could bypass the use of the heroic gloves in order to keep my set bonus for the hp and energy. currently i am looking to get rings/bracs that will increase either str or dex. pumping points into str stops increasing damage as much the higher it gets. but if you say get haste ring, with 30 strength your damage would be much more influenced than if you got, say a stormfist ring adding 10 magic damage...and the dex to increase the usefulness of your skills..
well thats all i can think to say, thats how i operate my ranger. hope any of it was helpful
