Don't laugh but finally Explosive is helping me level.

I got the Occult Breast plate and Legs which add sharp and explosive. With high Dex explosive is sometimes doing 2 k as is sharp shot.

So I Lix then gather up a bunch of non 4 stars in the Tower and then Explosive them to pieces (using An Ammy with general damage). rinse and repeat.

Probably will only work for a couple of levels but so far I am levelling far faster than before

I used this tactic as well, but its very expensive. i did it on groups of 3 stars or less, groups of 4 stars would destroy me. even with max dex build and added vitality.

Reason it was good: explosive deals decent damage to all nearby targets. also mixed in defense spikes which was very weak but added extra damage to mobs attacking me.

Reason it was bad: Explosive arrow for me cost 392 energy. with 1.2k energy, 1 cast is 33% of my energy roughly. mix that in with buffs, heals, and sharpshot your eating restos just for energy consumption and cannot sigil because you have many mobs on you. also explosive was very slow to cast. I found this build to give me a slight edge in experience per lix, but could also go the opposite way just as easy on a lix. when you have 4 mobs aggro'd on you, the fastest experience comes when you change targets on your autos so explosive arrow can deal the most damage to the most targets, if you die while 4 mobs are at 10% health, that wasted about 2 minutes of a lix with 0 experience, and about 10 wasted restos. your are using restos about as fast as they cool down.

I used this build for the 200 edl adds. i lixd there from 197-201. was the fastest leveling i did, but cost me the most because edl adds drop gold but never items. and the amount of restos i used. the experience gained was nice for the time i had to spend lixing. but didnt make up for the cost of lixs.

I wouldn't tell someone not to try it, but explosive just needs either a faster cast time or cost less energy. i know you cant ask for both. but it hurts your energy so much. if it was faster cast time i could deal with the e costs.

@Adrith thanks for that information. Yes energy use is high and using more Restos.

I was using sharpen but given both Explosive and Sharp have a low recast time (tho Explosive is slow cast) I wonder how many autos I actually get off with the occasional light heal added in. Spikes could actually be better for group damage. Will try it.

I got the new Lux set so the added 100 points in all Stats mean my energy is just enough so that I almost run out but not quite so far. Plus Occult adds 600 Explosive Dmg and similar for Sharp without cost.

The main draw back is you need Mob filled rooms. So I do one of those double rooms in the 3rd level then log onto another Toon for 5 minutes then log back. Ths way I get the most of my Lix. And avoid 4 stars where possible.

Rather not.. Since my ranger could auto 1-1.5k damage on mobs at that level, why spend time casting skills when I can just tap auto attack and do just as good if not better dps..

Well to each their own.

I've already moved to a higher auto build because I am levelling elsewhere. The build described was very high Dex and good Vit so almost no need for Restos. But as I said only worked for an area with enough 3 star and lower mobs to make it worth while. Though even 4 stars were doable with a Resto or two if needed.

Hopefully I can try it again later in another crowded area and see if it was just a fluke. I feel I have never levelled so fast before.
