Lowbie / cheapie guide?

#1
Hello all. There's a wealth of knowledge available here and I'm thankful to those who have taken the time to post your thoughts and collective insight for the community.

I was wondering if there are any thoughts on builds and gear for the cheap player ( ie... for those of us relying on minimal / basic vendor purchased lux ) ?

For example, my chosen build ( I've reset numerous times through trial and error ) is working pretty good for me. Note... strictly opinion ( current lvl 164 ):

Stat points: I have my health at 3k and poured the rest into dex. For lower levels a 3 dex 2 vitality point distribution per level seems to work well.

Skills: Im using longshot, sharpshot & doubleshot ( keeping these @ 5-10 levels above current as some have suggested ). Energy drain is an issue with three separate attacks, but is offset some via the brown rabbit pet ( personally my favorite ).

Additionally Im keeping light heal and steady aim at max. Excess points going towards sharpened weapons.

Gear: am equipping dragon lord as it becomes available and offsetting with Bone armor on the pieces I dont have.

Jewelry is the biggest pain for me and where I likely lack the most. Clan mates and Friends have been kind enough to help in this department, but oddly the drops I see on bosses don't seem to compliment a dex ranger ( much ). Perhaps Im wrong about this, but ranged combat and attack ability traits are pretty much what I see available. Not horrible , but where is the dex increase jewelry?

Anyway.. myself and likely the other noobs who visit the forums would be appreciative of any veteran advice.

Thank you in advance.

Nekst

As rangers go higher up, most of them don't run dex anymore, a majority are now centered around str to compliment the high pierce that comes with the higher level bows.

That isn't really true at all in my opinion. Pretty much every Ranger in Alliance (Lugh) is full dext in an attempt to actually land more hits on bosses like Gele, Prot, etc.. I believe that Rangers level 1-180 should lean more towards strength to help boost their damage due to their lack of damage gear. So based off of that, I also think that you should get up to 4k hp and split your stats, adding more points more towards strength to help get that damage up. That is just my opinion based on experience. Good luck! (:

Most eg rangers actually go full dex. All the rangers in our clan are full dex, due to the attack boost. I myself have around 1.2k dex and 600 str (from gear only). The dex is much more beneficial than the small damage boost given by str at eg.
