Visible quivs r one thing, a different shootin animation when we already have one seems kinda silly.
The shooting animation is fine, I made the clear, it's the fact that we shoot point blank when the mob is literally in front of our face, this isint the first time this has been suggested.
Alright, lets turn to real life history to answer this. A soldier with a sword approaches an archer just after said archer has fired his bow. The archer has 2 ways to defend himself against this up close enemy.

1) He drops his bow and draws his sword, going hand to hand combat.

OR

2) He simply chooses another arrow and shoots at point-blank range.

You would be suprised how many archers would rather just shoot their enemy instead of changing weapons. In changing weapons the archer is faced with 2 possible difficulties, one of which is normally true (skill), the second of which commonly happens/happened in Celtic lands.

1) He switches weapons successfully and has his sword out by the time the soldier reaches him. After the first few attacks the archer realizes that his opponent is far more skilled than he in the ways of the sword, inevitably ending in said archers death.

OR

2) As the soldier approaches, the archer drops his bow and tries to draw his weapon, only to find out that the sword is firmly frozen in its sheath and that he cannot draw the blade to defend himself. He then is cut down easily as he tries to flee.

These are just a couple different situations in which an archer might find himself in. As you can see, shooting with a bow is still the best, as the archer has the most experience in using that weapon.

Um, than lets be glad this game doesn't have the archer class right, they are rangers.

Most rangers aren't only masters of the bow, but close combat as well. Meaning they can still use a bow to counter the enemy's strikes, just not with arrows because it's stupid and the scenario you used makes absolutely no sense considering it could only work with 1 arrow.

Technically, you could say that. But rangers main weapon and the weapon that they are best at is the BOW, so idk what your trying to say... Rangers are basically archers, especially in peacetime they both have the same function and are in fact called rangers. In wartime rangers turn into archers. This is every armys term for them. Also it doesnt only work with one arrow. It only depends on the skill of the shooter. If you havent heard of people shooting more than 1 arrow accurately at the same time... point is it happens. And the scenario I provided only was 1 versus 1. In the same way there are people who with one swing of sword or axe can/could kill multiple people. I call in the Saxons huscarlis, with an axe one of them could behead both horse and rider at the same time. If you look at modern weapons a bullet has the potential to kill more than 3 people at the same time with one bullet- especially if all the heads are lined up correctly. Depending on the armor someone is wearing and the type of arrow the same thing could happen with an arrow. Especially if it is in a soft spot. And this is only with the European style of shooting a bow. Let's not even bother going towards the Middle East.

They should turn around bend over and shoot in between their legs... ok seriously if you care how you look during a fight, you have bigger problems to focus on.

I think that the bow bash thing is cool ... take ur bow hold it n the center where the arrow goes and smack a mob back or just a simple push back ... this annimation already exist when u evade or something(or a close thing tht happens simular to the animation im thinking about) just make it do damage and or stun the enemy it looks a lot better than shooting point blank gives the ranger time to step back bolas and start shooting again
There is nothing wrong with caring how something looks the litle things attract people to games

Yes a point blank shot will do more damage than a far away one in real life. So to be honest... the animation is good as is.

Rangers in celtic wars didn't only fought with their bows. When it gets up close and personal they generally had a sidearm to back them up. Like a dagger or short sword. But since it's a ranger on a MMO game, you could have a secondary slot or whatever and fit it into the HUD and it will switch arms whenever pressed.

Now that would be cool with 1 exception. It would have to use the bow ability and have the same stats as the bow equipped (preferably on the latter). Also... if this happened I would like never use my bow. That said im thinking of using knucks... :) Not a bad idea overall.
