Use rapid shot, bolas, entangle, and sharpen weps. Probably some points into light heal too, regardless of low dex or not.

Longshot doesn't factor in weapon damage, infact no ranger skills do. It is also a dex based skill so i would not recommend using it with a str build.

Bro, since you are a scientist, conduct an experiment. Observe the reported damage for Long Shot when you change weapons, strength, or other factor that affects your base damage. Notice anything interesting?

hunter knowing your stats. don't use sharp shot. auto has more dmg than sharp. yes use sharpen weapon as well maxed rapid, light heals, bolas.

double shot - maxed
rapid shot - lvl 1 (always, always lvl, the most pts u put into it the longer the cd, at lvl 1 it gives u 5-6 secs and very fast cd)

well str builds r mostly auto attacking, so steady aim is good

so we got that

now idk which skills r also str based, u can take light heal but it'll be a lot less effective with str build, u can get bolas since bolas is very usefull for auto attacking builds

imo, take bolas or another high dmg skill

Even if it does factor in weapon damage, it does so at a small percentage of your listed damage, a negligible amount. The bulk of its damage is based upon dex. Not worth using with a str build.

You're calling us morons? Someone hasn't played a ranger since update 3. Rapid shot got nerfed and has a fixed cooldown now of 45 seconds. So in order for it to be effective, you need at least 20 points to be hasted half of the time.

Rapid Shot has a fixed cool down after the update. Then again, perhaps I am just a moron.

I did a simple test with Long Shot so the OP can make an informed decision about the skill.
75 points of Dex increased Long Shot damage 4.2%
75 points of Str increased it 2.6%

I agree that Dex has a larger effect on Long Shot damage but Str plays a role as well.

As you can see there is a range of opinions on builds. There isn't a "one build fits all" but I hope the responses help you with your ranger. I think everyone has to tweak their build from time to time to match their style of play. Good luck to you.
