Unless you plan on staying that level, its not worth the effort to research which is better(because youll outlevel them fairly quickly), both are good, and close in damage.

Personally though id go with opal.

To answer your queston about longshot, i dont think it would help much, as more enemies/players are melee then not, so when your leveling youll usually only get one shot per enemy(if your far enough away that is, which may be a problem in a room while leveling).

Also the bow abilty will increase skill damage too(only some of the skills though), but indirectly, through the skills that use the damage and delay of your equipped weapon.

Why not just say bow ability increases double shot, since it doesn't do anything else to other skills

Longshot and barbed shot too.

Since bow abilty increases your auto damage, it indirectly increases delay/dmg of equipped weapon skills, since the forumulas are like this

Auto damage + Skill damage = Longshot damage

Auto damage + Skill dot = Barbed shot damage

Auto damage x 2 = Double shot damage

So since bow increases auto damage, it increases these skills as well.
