Running this spear build as well.

I have full greater solstice, heroic gloves/boots/ammy and bodkin(rejuv). I could solo shield master captains at 52 and can solo unicorns and druids now. I mainly level on wisps atm.

Bolas 18/17
Light Heal 17/17
Rapid Shot 17/17

Waiting to get defensive spikes.

edit: at level 60 I can solo red eyes.

(and yes i did edit the pic to hide the amount of gold i have)
Why use bolas with a spear

Bolas is useful in boss fights and when I'm fighting a particularly hard mob I'll bolas and rebuff.
Read the fine print , he photoshopped that image so nobody knows he only has 12k gold :)

There is no point to spear once you reach level 60 and can buy knucks.

2 reasons:

1. rapid
2. shot
I use knuckles as a main weapon, bow equip, rapidshot charge, knuckleblades on------mobs health------->0

On my spear ranger I still use my bolas, but not in the way you might think. Since my spear is a melee weapon I need something to pull mobs at range. What I do is keep my bolas only at 1 skill point and use it to pull mobs into melee range. It works great. 8-)

Im with eliminator on this one.

Coming from a lvl 142 who likes to experiment, if u use spear as main u pretty much have wasted the one useful thing rangers have going for them.....bolas and rabged combat.

You r claiming to solo things that others fight in grps?

I soloed stonechief myself too, and i dared not use a spear.

I wld love for you to attempt that one and last all of 7 seconds (even a lvl 150 spear ranger).

Not sure why you think you can outperform a bow ranger who doesnt get hit.

There is no possible way for you to outdmg me unless its some very short term fighting.

Also spear ranger cannot utilize radiant armor as this involves getting hit , and with zero resists that equals dead ranger.

It would he fair to say that i can solo even mobs that you would need a grp for , not the other way around.

I know a man gets bored but this claim of spear superiority makes me chickle all night.

142 Ranger
Your on the right lines, however think about what skills a spear support ranger would have:
Entangle
Light heal
Defensive spikes
Rapidshot.

I think with the right balance of dex/vit/str this could be quite usefull and would probbably be able to solo stonechief just as well as a bow ranger.
Ranged combat will still be in effect for the skills i mentioned prior as they all come from the ranged combat section, so that has no stand in this argument.

Someone finish this go and max spear ability try the build 300 dex, 200 vitality, 100stren. Go on a solo spree and tell us how efficient it was how many attempts it had taken you to solo a 5* otherworld place holder, then with bow do the same and give a comparison.

Haven't seen one ranger use spear thourugly yet so lets stop giving thoughts and actually test it?
