Ranger ideas.

I personally think that it looks weird when you still use your bow at close range. I think the ranger should pull out double knives and fight when the enemy is close. The knives can do the exact same damage as the bow. I hope I'm not the only one disturbed by this because rangers back in the day would kill enemies in one hit, but in this case since the enemies get close sometimes, you should have the knives to make it look more realistic. Btw if anyone has read the book series rangers apprentice ( which is a very good book) you will find their armament consists of a long bow, two strikers, and a throwing knife which is more often used to support the saxe knife in close combat than thrown. The saxe knife is a large knife designed to block sword attacks and for simple tasks like cutting meat or, in some cases, to shave.

Throwing knives and axes are going into the update, though I'm not sure which classes get which.
If you look at damage, knives should never do as much as a bow (even if there are 2). It takes a full body effort to launch an arrow from a bow, where as knives are mostly an arm swing. Arrows were anti-armor technology. Also, the Devs are looking hard at the pet system, which my alieviate the need for close range combat all together for rangers.

Well the only reason I wanted the knives was so that it wouldn't look as weird as shooting point blank so I didn't want the damage to change causing the game play to change. But now that you mentioned that knives are weaker than bows, I was thinking that the knives can do less damage but have a good attack speed so that the damage per second is equivalent to that of whatever bow you are using. Hope this won't be too hard for the devs to do.
