For you farming gold is kind of hard so just get xp and gold at the same time. But if you really only want gold kill the crookback guards outside of crookback cave, I had my friend do this for me for 5 hours straight while he was watch tv and he gained about 50k.

50K IN 5 hours? Little bit of a stretch maybe? Those mobs drop an average of 2 gold each, which means you would have to kill at a rate of one every .72 seconds for 5 hours to make 50k. No weapon has that attack speed, even knucks on haste.

How big was that fish you almost caught last week?

Considering the fastest wep rate at his level, no haste gloves, and assuming he can one shot kill those mobs, a more reasonable expectation would be 16.6k in 5 mind-numbing hours.

As to the question in the post, you are much better off leveling. Don't worry about gold farming until you can one shot kill mobs in Dustwither where you have the chance to get drops, goldbones, and maybe even the occasional diamond soul orb. As you move through the game, you can go back and gold farm in areas you used to level. I farm in blue eyes now for example, but I'm 150+

Well considering he one shotted them and had heroic gloves plus he was selling drops to the lux shop (which sell for 1-3 gold each) its kind of possible... I must admit he did collect the pumpkin that was right next to him so he sold those for 60 each but in the end had 50k more than when I last logged on.

Just level. That is the best gold. However, if you must wait til you are around level 70 and farm the catas neath deaths caress, then as you level higher move to greygorge. for your level just collect every mushroom in shale you can find. deathcaps go for 2-10 gold apiece, milkstalks 1-3, fettles 10-20.

As he mentioned I find the drops add up to or exceed the gold drops in some areas. In Shalemont u get swords and bows which sell for 50 to the right trader. I guess a weapon every 10 or less kills?
