Research on stats

Hi, I'm just another ranger asking for help with stats and gear. I plan on using a mostly balanced build with little to no lux for a while, although I am saving up. I would like advice about what to save up for, what I should be doing/where I should be training at certain levels, and if my skills/stats need to be changed/applied differently.
My skills are:
20/20 bolas
20/20 light heal
17/20 sharp shot
steady aim is somewhere between 5 and 10. Not sure exactly. Rapid is at 5, everything else is 1 or 2.
Stats, including bonuses from signet and wyrmfang brace
strength about 115
dex about 125-130
focus about 40
vit somewhere in the 100-110 range
I have a quartz bow, warden helm and greaves, met boots and gloves, anc lam cuirass, and an energy regen ring.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Arretes! Ranger's Apprentice? Love that char, lol. Too bad we can't go around with knives as well as bows :)

I would strongly recommend upping your Steady Aim. It helps all your dmg, and is arguably one of the best buffs in the game.

With that much in bolas, you may want to up your Str some more. You're not concerned with avoiding hits, and most of your DMG will come from Auto attack, which is Str based. Not worth using a alt book, but keep your bolas no more than 15 levels above you (so at 70, you can bolas a L85, for example). Otherwise you're wasting skill pts you can use somewhere else (like that Steady Aim :))

Gear wise, I'd recommend Heroic Ammy, and then Dia Bow, then quiver (golden ice, or rejuv).

Get diamond bow, then heroic gloves, then quiver of ice, then heroic ammy of rejuv, then golden helm of severity.

You should still be leveling in Stonevale. When you hit 77-78 go to ow and train on the red eyes near the portal.

Skills use steady aim, bolas if you like, rapid (low as possible but 5 isnt too bad for energy problems and the horrid cool down you will get as you level it higher, later you might consider getting it to 15-20 or maxing it but warning it costs alot of energy), light heal. Sharp is great and throw any extra pts in there. If you dont have alot of energy regen invest in meditate.

Stop adding to strength after you level it to anywhere from 300-400. Make sure you get enough health to withstand ranged spells (druids will give you some ideas but they are a piece of cake compared to ow mobs) and still have plenty left over. I would suggest around 180-200 vit (Unless of course you like the 1k health for a ranger idea). After you get those done, add all the rest of the points you get to dex. For a str based ranger thats the way to go, and with so much in bolas thats where your headed. ;)

Compared to what?

Here's Xyn's post on Ranger skills. Tho she (?) used a trial char with 800some dex, her highest 36 pt AIM gave 364 Attack and 69 DMG.

Mine's only 22 (IIRC) with only 175 Dex and gives about 150 Attack and 24 DMG. I would think yours at 42 would be giving close to what Xyn had, even with less Dex. If that's "not really too good", maybe your expectation's just a Tad Too High.

Let's see... So I guess what I've learned is:
Steady aim is awesome
Get some more vit
keep rapid shot low for now
And keep training at druids

Don't keep rs at low lv,I have mine at 12/15 and I'm only lv33, I can kill most 2 star mobs above my lv with my bolas before they get to me.it increases how long you shoot rapidly for but get good energy regen,I have silver ammy, and invest a lot of points into them.also steady aim isn't also that good, mines 5/15,it adds 2 dmg :/ and a little attack.I doint have a build,I just put all my stats in random ones (exept focus) and mines working great.
