If I buy any golden blade with a quartz knucklespike, will I die faster than with a bow? That is because I won't be long range so enemy's can hit me, btw I did the math the 15 piercing dmg from the quartz knucklespike is actually 55 normal dmg. Oh and what's the point of having the knuckles, most of our ranger skills meant for long range won't work, sharp shot for example, the only one that does work that I know of is rapid shot

Rapid doesnt work. And quartz is crap buy diamond. Knucks r amazing

Yes you will die faster.
Use your bow and bolas.
I do not think knucks are the best for leveling but with the right equipment it is good for dps.

If used right knucks can be great for rangers. But it depends on the build.

My stats are, strength: 75. Dexterity: 148, 224 with golden quiv if fire. Focus at 20, and vitality 83

Knucks IMHO are the fastest easiest way to lvl.
Sure bolas and bow is great, here's the problem tho... ABILITIES.... when u bolas, the mobs don't hit u. When the mobs don't hit u, ur abilities can't climb. Willpower, vigor, warding, reflex,fortitude. None climb if the mobs can't touch u.when ur abilities r low, overall, u r low too.
So far, my bow and h2h are maxed. I'm slowly upping spear now too. Spear puts out some nasty damage.
But, overall, I prefer diamond knuckleblades and ice blade over bow and quiver any day.

WIth just the golden blade of say ice, and a diamond knuck mainhand, with a maxed h2h ability ( or near max ), yes you should be quite fine. I don't use bolas and Im a bow ranger atm. I tank through my mobs and bosses. Its fun to take agro when you know ur not gonna die quick- and that light heal is great stuff! I would recommend defensive spikes after you get some rejuv, but youll be fine with straight up auto attacking. My rogue is all auto attack- he uses buffs but that's it. You might want to think about investing in steady aim- it adds both attack and damage.

I find that entangle is pretty usefull
