Ranger Awesomeness and Not so Awesomeness

Hey guys I want to see everyone post on what they like about rangers and what we dislike and needs to be fixed: Heres an example:

PvP. Just saying, at pvp, rangers stink. I have seen exactly zero rangers on gwydion who are really good at duelling. Any builds that would help us win? I know strength helps, but it still isn't as good as tanks and mages.
Two solutions that OTM culd provide for this. Either more damage or longer bolas, because then we can wear out tanks who would crush us otherwise.

Please post on this topic! :)

Bolas and light heal are some of the greatest skills of rangers.

As for pvp, I completely agree with you. A level 65 warrior killed me with 3/4 health left. (BTW im lvl 84)
I went all-out and bolased, healed, and entangled. I still died :|

Notably rangers need/have the least amount of health besides druids and imo is why they lose because they dont think the same way when they train because they do not need all that health due to bolas and light heal

The trick is to put lots of points into vitality. Thats the only hint im gonna give. ;)

Hmm ok thanks for the feedback; but does this make it hard to lvl then?

It makes training slower cause you lose some dps, but you'll have lots of hp to tank hits if bolas fails you. Not the ideal training build but it works well if you solo train. If youre training in a group (which i definitely recommend) you can act as the tank. To keep agro spam sharp shot and bolas. That should help keep agro from the monsters. Having one build for both pvp and training is a very tedious thing to have so you'll have to play around with your stats until you find something that suits your needs.
*Disclaimer: I am not advocating that vitality build is the best overall, just that it is the best to use for pvp.
Hope this helps some.

Sigh.

This ladies and gentlemen is why I keep on saying that rangers need vit! 2 vit a level works wonders. I am a dex build and do not at all find it hard to crush tanks. :D Preferably around my level or a wee bit lower though, I am a bit squishy at the moment. Also people above 120 kick but because of their more awesome skills... Anyway back to the point.

My favorite build to pvp against is a tank. For this, it is called constant dps. rapid, sharpshot, heal repeat. Even while healing I am auto attacking my opponent, which is awesome. If needed I take a few steps back to heal (if I am really running low on health). They are no problem. Their skills cannot defeat dex. Neither can a druids, mages, or (theoretically anyway) rogues. Other rangers aren't much of a problem either because of such low vit. I understand why most rangers think that they can go without a lot of health. I was there once myself. After hitting level 78 I switched to a dex build and have not looked back since. The trick is health. If you don't have it, your screwed. As it is my sharp shot takes normally a good 300-600 of a rangers health nowadays. This is... scary to see so much damage from one skill people. But even more scary is the drop in my opponents health bar.

Dex, vit, strength. they can be combined to make the perfect combination if you work them right.

Are you speaking of healing via rejuv or light heal? I've never noticed being able to auto while casting :P as for rejuv, most pvp duels tend to be fast enough unless both opponents have really low dmg that it doesnt factor in quite as drastically as it does at lower levels.

As for pvp, vit is important as most opponents can take out 600+ hp easily at higher levels on a skill. . .or auto hit for some. As for skills 'not being able to defeat dex', that is blatantly false as dex does not help you avoid skill hits, that would be fortitude and skill attack evasion bonuses. Most skill hitters will be able to beat people with an auto build due to burst dmg and dex evasion though, different with rogues. . .but this is ranger pvp eh?
