I played this game some time ago and now I'm coming back to start afresh as a brand new ranger. My question is if rangers have potential to solo, for the most part that means leveling, but I'm hoping to be able to kill almost anything at high levels. (I realize there are bosses that cannot be solod period.) If possible, I'm looking for a build (perhaps a dex/vit mixture) skills and abilities to use, and a method for killing mobs alone as I have never played ranger. I don't want a DPS or some other support build, I'm looking to level efficiently alone, not in groups. I've never seen a suggested build for solo in a ranger guide so I suspect it isn't common if existent, but I thought I'd ask anyway. All answers are welcome but especially those from experienced rangers. Thanks!

Yes, rangers are the most efficient soloers in the game. A dex build is the best option for solo lvling, as you will have strong skills and a huge heal that helps ALOT. I myself soloed Charfire the other day, with the help of my 460+ heal. And it's an even better build for groups, especially with a warrior or rogue.

Effectively, no.
High lvl Druids in my clan gain more exp then me (same lvl) and their build is str/focus. You'll be surprise how much Druid deal damage.
Experience wise, you can solo but your lvl progression is slower conparing to other classes.

I could be wrong but that's what I've noticed.
Also by using elixer, your experience gain gap make a huge differences when you comparing to other classes. Could just be a bug idk.

completely agree with you. it takes a long time to kill mobs at lvl120. i kill a one star in like 30-40 seconds while a rogue doesnt even take 10 seconds. OTM seriously needs to give rangers a huge buff.

I had a str build at lvl105 and i soloed charfire, crystalmist, shimmerspell and crumblehorn. Im not gloating, im just telling that all types of builds are equal. I liked str build and i changed to hybrid build only because of longshot( hypnotized me with its awesomeness ) So it completely depends on u which build YOU like not which others like. I agree that dex build might be more effective but i tried it and changed back to str build.

Beyond that will I always need to keep adding vit to survive vs harder and harder mobs or is there a point at which I can stop? And lastly, is there a minimum str requirement for whatever reason even if I'm going to be as full dex as possible? (sorry firefury)

If you are using super combos/pots and compare to other classes then rangers cant compare in xp/time. Other classes way faster xp.

If you want to continue killing and enjoying what you do without pots then rangers can do that.

yes this is a big discussion and im very upset. I was a very big solo lvling but since update its no good. i am lvl 170 now and i have 525 str, 410 dex, 50 foc, 210 HP and i get 6-8 sub bars on a super combo if im lucky. kills are way to slow since rangers need to cast longshot to really cause dmg and that means an extra bolas and running to do it since you have to be far away to cast it.

Also the delay in casting bolas and that first shot after bolas before you can run, and the casting time for longshot and double shot are crazy crazy slow. ive paired up with other classes and in the time i cast bolas, longshot and double shot they have hit 4-5 times. sometimes the mobs are already at almost half life. makes solong very hard for levling purpioses.

as for mini bosses bolas is still good enough to solo many minions.

lol why srry? As i said earlier in my post it completely depends ion which build YOU like not me or others. If u like dex build then go for a dex build

I've mainly solo leveled since 110-115 or so, I just hit 133 today. On occasion, I'll lvl with a friend or two, and on occasion, I'll dual box with my droid, but most of those 18-23 lvls have been all myself. And I do not lix it very often either.
Mainly all I've done is keep vit twice my lvl, then split str and dex for the rest.
However, I've been knuckleblades that whole time. Camo,sharpen,entangle, spikes and light heal is all I have points in. Max heal, camo and entangle good for 10 lvls above me, rest of points divied between spikes and sharpen.
I've noticed I hit harder than rangers many lvls above me, and I kill faster too. Only time I use bow is on big bosses, just to get me back away from them.

Im kinda in the same boat but i use spear

Double attack hits about 800-1.2k on mobs my level then i rapid shot until i can double attack again
Light heal maxed Obviously
Entangle for bosses and mobs
Sharpen weapons before the fight and mob should be dead before you need to re-apply it

I wouldnt say it was efficient but it works for me, i can't stand the long shot sharp shot misses
