Sharpen Weapons

The description states that it gives more melee damage. The traditional definition of melee is close-range combat, so does this mean sharpen weapons is only useful as support/spear rangers? Or does it actually affect arrows.

It affects my total damage when I use a bow. But it seems to give more of a chance for a higher hit, not actually do more damage. Like on lvl 85 4* lizards I usually hit 450-550. Then with sharpens I usually hit 500+

Frost what you have said makes no sense.

Yes it increases your damage stat and therefore auto.

Okay, thanks for the responses.

I'm assuming that the wording of the skill is wrong, then.

it gives dmg on any wep u would use, not just melee weps
and if u hit 450-550 without sharpen frost, then with sharpen u hit 500-600, as an increase of 50 average dmg

a couple reasons for the wording of sharpen:

1) melee being defined as any fight with any weapon (often melee is used in this definition)

2) everyone else uses melee weapons (except mages- to an extent) and this wording is to emphasize the group ability of the skill.

1.
Melee generally refers to disorganized close combat involving a group of fighters. (Wikipedia)
It denotes weapons for use in hand-to-hand combat (such as a sword or club), in contrast to ranged weapons (such as a bow). (Wikipedia)
Confused, hand-to-hand fighting in a pitched battle. (thefreedictionary)
a confused struggle; especially : a hand-to-hand fight among several people (Merriam-Webster)
Melee is a form of physical combat that requires the attacker to be relatively close (arm plus weapon length) to the target as opposed to a ranged attack. (WoWWiki)

Want me to find more definitions? There's plenty out there.

2. Mage's wand damage stat is also increased when sharpen weapons is used in group.

I'm just confused what's with the wording.

Sigh. Yes, melee is defined that way and no you don't need to find more definitions. I was referring to the fact that 'a melee' can just mean one big fight (which means that yes most combatants are indeed of the melee classes).

I meant by #2 that: this wording is to emphasize the group ability of the skill, bc it obviously adds dmg to all.

The 'group fight' is a free-for-all, or a large scuffle. Doesn't work like that in Celtic Heroes.

Anyways, thanks for the responses.
