Hmm never really put time into a support ranger build. Maybe start off with 3parts dex 1 part vit.
Max Skills
Sharpen weapons
Bolas
Light heal
Entangle
Camo
That's about the best possible support skill setup. As for gear
High dex adding gear. Along with some light heal boosting gear. Such as mord braces. They should be pretty easy to get. I wouldn't be surprised you get a godly one lol. Depending on your clan. That's about all I can think of. Other people probably know alot more then I do about support build. :)

Light heal -off heal, or even main heal tank depending on situation
Bolas - slow movement speed of boss
Entangle - decrease boss attack
Defensive spikes - adds dps to all party members in range

Go dex. Above all things dex inceases your accuracy, and potency of skills such as light heal. If your there to support then you want what you cast to stick the first time you cast it, especially the heals.

Defensive spikes is complete trash. Don't even bother. Entangle would be perfect but I'd sub out camo for conceal.

You must be joking about defensive spikes. It can be applied to everyone in the party, has low energy cost, lasts a full two minutes, and it damages "every" enemy that attacks anyone. Defensive spikes can be damaging multiple targets while your casting anything else you want and the more people you have it applied to the more powerful it becomes. If a boss aoes the raid the entire raid instantly re-damages the boss with defensive spikes x however many people are in the raid. That makes defensive spikes a very powerfull skill. And to make it even better it's dex based. It's one of my favorite skills. :D

Uh why would you use defensive spike...if you use bolas and entanglt? Bolas dlowing movement, so you can ru around with out gettug hurt (saying your not melee) and entangle lowers attack speed, so less hits on you...just seems dumb to use this skill f using bolas and entangle.

Defensive spikes is useless because there is one tank at a raid and he will be grouped with druids. Rangers at endgame are dps, you just cast spikes on your dps group? Well done you wasted time and energy casting it. It shouldnt be locked to group only and even if it wasnt it would still be junk, its damage needs to be boosted atleast 4x to make it semi useful.

Bolas is rangers' best support skill because it allows a group to take down bosses with few people. Light heal can be useful when youre lacking druids. Sharpen is good for dps group. If you want to be support, make a druid or mage. That would be my advice.
