Double shot

Let me just start by saying I'm not a ranger. I found out many end game rangers don't use double shot. Why?

Double shot is a skill that while it does not have a listed skill damage it is explicitly stated as 2x your auto attack damage. This means auto damage stat directly increases this skills effectiveness, pretty unique skill(same as double attack). So for example a ranger with 3.5k damage has a skill capability of 7k damage. Double shot will only cancel 1 auto and it will not miss, and I guarantee it'll hit more than an auto every single time.

It does more than an auto attack, only cancels one auto attack, and it never misses. Where's the drawback, energy consumption?

Why don't players use this skill?

Speed cap is 1.1 sec so u actually can.
Yes I know it's 1.1 seconds hence why I asked if it's a 3.3 second cast time. 3 autos x 1.1 second attack speed?

Just went on my noob ranger and it's not even 2 second cast time in a quartz bow and haste gloves. It also hit more than double my autos.

Side note: All skills seem to work quite well for low levels. Perhaps they don't scale at the same rate as your auto damage is increasing.

Yes I know it's not a bossing scenario but the results would be similar on lure. It's not like a boss resist one physical damage skill more than the other one, they'll just evade them at different rates.

I just showed you mathematical evidence disproving your claim. Double attack is the same skill as double shot, I can show it on my end game rogue too if that'll make you feel like I'm more credible. In fact I use double attack on my rogue in my regular build.

My picture showed a couple things.

It showed double shot hitting much higher than my auto attack. It showed that even with an animation after double shot(apparently animations take too much time) I still fired an auto attack very shortly afterwards.

I haven't done much in testing these theories other than knowing my double attack hits much higher than my autos on my rogue and never misses so I use it. I wanted to know why rangers don't use it.

If I attack a mob with zero resist and my autos average 1500 and double shot averages 3k. Then I go to a boss.
The boss would resist autos in many ways(fire, pierce, cold etc) bringing the total down differently as each type may be resisted a different amount. Double shot on the other hand is resisted only by pierce damage, so if the boss has more of any resist besides pierce damage then double shot would be affected less than your autos would be. This would make double shot even better in such case(especially with a lure on). If pierce resist is higher than any other resist than double shot will be affected more than your autos would be, but would still provide higher damage than auto attacks(pierce lure would help once again).

If anyone has a real reasoning they could provide that would be great thanks.

Don't mind acid burn. He's fairly new to the ranger class.

It's a travesty that your end game Rangers don't use this skill. Double shot is a must for raids and legits. To combat high defense, you have to have a non miss skill. Even with 7-8k attack I still miss half of my autos. Rangers can't just rely on autos.

To do the most DPS on 6 star bosses and raids, you have to spam double shot. I've experimented with this many times, I've lost kills to others when occasionally clicking double shot compared to using it whenever I could.
