Quick Strike (QS) is most important as you use this throught fights multiple times.
Rend increases DPS and gives you another ability to do damage.
Sneaky attack is your best damage skill by far, but has a long Cooldown (CD) and cannot be used while being targeted.
Poison Weapon is helpful to boost damage, but increases slowly as you add points into it.
Hide is important if you plan to attack harder mobs and need to get the first hit off first.

In my Opinion, skills range on the following scale; most important to least important:

Quick Strike > Hide (as needed) > Sneaky > Rend > Psn Weapon

Only add points into Hide as you need them. Obviously, it's silly to have the ability to hide from lvl 70 mobs if you're in a lvl 30 zone. I maxxed QS probably around lvls 30-40. You can keep sneaky and rend around the same skillpoints wise or max sneaky first., Have a few points in psn, but don't go more than say 3-5 points before maxing QS, Rend, and Sneaky. I never found heal wounds to be worth the points I could put elsewhere for damage. At Higher levels, I would add points into distract when you start grouping and fighting with others. When targets don't face you, you can use sneaky anytime the CD is up. Dodge becomes less important if you focus on damage.

Dex helps at lower levels to continuously hit creatures, but it is not as beneficial at higher levels when your skills are trained to 750+. At that point I'd move most dex into Strength. You only really need 1k hp to be an effective damage dealer; it will make it harder to attack mobs that do high damage though. I rarely use dodge at high levels anymore.

Always keep Rend up on the mob and fill in QS when CD is up. From what I've seen, abilities do NOT override your "white" (aka auto attack) damage.

Strength > Vit > Dex > Focus

Keep enough vit to be able to deal with the damage of average mobs in the area and enough dex to equip items. Focus varies based on the equipment you have. You can get away with little to no focus with rejuv items. As a new player, you are not likely to have rejuv items, so I would suggest enough focus to get at least 3-4 QS, 1-2 Rend, and a Sneaky attack off (you can let some energy regen after casting psn wep and hide). Strength is your bread and butter for damage; shorter the fight, less energy or health you'll need. Majority of your stat points should be spent here.

Keep two types of main hand daggers on you at all times:

1) Heavy Damage dagger, usually slow weapon speed
2) Uber Fast dagger, lower damage but fast dagger speed

Fast daggers help to disrupt a mob's abilities that have a long cast time. This becomes very aparent with boss mobs such as Chillwind (stupid energy shield!!)

This is more opinion than tested data for optimum damage output, but it has worked quite well.

Good luck and happy hunting!

You mean Chillmist. :P Thx for the details Aldheim. :)

I'm at lvl 75, so much for that...

I usually just use Hide, Sneaky, Quick Strike and Poison, but only buff on poison and hide for harder mobs. I'm not too big a fan for rend since I try to kill fast and rend does dmg over time.

ahh Chillmist indeed; I thought that sounded funny lol.

I prefer to add rend as the inital strike of rend hits hard. I've had Rend application hits that strike for 400+ while the dmg over time is usually 30-75. I can usually kill Druid Fellbrothers and Branchtwisters in 2-3 shots (QS + Rend + one Auto Attack). Even without the Damage over time (DoT) damage of rend, it acts as a slightly weaker QS.

Winter King dagger and the meteoric dagger for me... Also i think that Poison Weapon is nice, but distract may be just as useful. Depends on how many people are on in your clan but I've been finding there seems to be some times where there no Warriors on. Distract becomes so useful and it can be annoying to some if they suddenly get attacked but if your job is to do damage, hey you do what you can to get the job done.

Aantoniou,

Ancient Langsax may be your best MH dagger until you get Dagger of the Icelord, Dagger of the Winter King, or Warden Dagger (Dagger of the Darkest Nights). Since the red bosses were added, I have not seen King Frostbelly, which leads me to believe that the Icelord and Winter King Daggers are now considered "Retired". What makes that hard is that Icelord/Winter king are your slow, high dmg daggers while Warden/Meteoric is by far the best quickblade. 50 dmg with 2k speed? You can't beat that.

As for your offhand, save your money. The Luxury Shop in Farcrag Castle has the ebst offhands you can get, but they aren't cheap. You must have at least 20k on hand to even look in the shop and everything is a bit pricey. If you have the cashflow, go for the Bodkin daggers that have combat regeneration qualities. If not, I believe there are Silver and Gold versions of a *** Blade/Slayer which are decent (always forget the name. Think it has the word slayer in it, but never used them myself; saved for a bodkin. They are OH daggers non-the-less).

I was one of the lucky few in Crom to grab a Winter King dagger before Rockbelly moved on in; either that or people have them stashed on "mule" characters. Still working on my meteoric dagger though.. Darn Dragon Discs just wont drop into my bag when we kill Falgren/Brutus lol.
