I am not sure, i think although it does more damage (only 1 extra though) the golden bodkin of spirits is better for rouges - it has regen and it fits in way more with the rouge "style" if you know what i mean...

i dont think so.... im rogue lvl 79 but i have bodkin and i like bodkins for rogue

Slayer's Golden Baselard is better...

and bodkin is better than baselard

I prefer the golden axe over the Boykin

golden axe is the best variant if you cant afford a bodkin (thats my opinion)

Obsolete, I recommend NOT buying this

Spirit bodkin is best choice for training, and depending on your other gear if you have low weight gear and heroic rejuv, you will find yourself not needing the extra mana gain, thus making it not as good for use over the Golden axe, which is good because it is cheaper anyways.

BTW!!! Mixing dmg types Does not matter in most cases. mixing pierce with slash for example, will not take away, you will still get the dmg bonus.
Another thing to keep in mind, 1 DMG point translates into (depending on your level/STR) around 3-11 dmg just for one single point. So it is kind of a big deal.

Side note- Spirit bodkin is an AMAZING offhand for druids, I highly recommend getting one for druids!
