If you don't have dl dagger, frozen is good. With the right gear cruel knife can out dps frozen.
I don't use hastes, they are too expensive for me. Also you can't use haste in pvp. Elder blade sucks and essence is awesome (for pvp mostly)

With a haste ring, the cruel dagger will hit the speed cap of 1100? While the frozen dagger would have a speed of 1330. So sacrificing 60 pierce damage is worth it to save 230 speed? O.o

Firstly that's a necro post, secondly, why the hell would u be so stupid to use a cruel knife or frozen dagger, there is way better stuff. Last but not least..

Don't use a essence blade! Get an axe, essence blades suck in comparison, spears hit the same speed rate as daggers if your smart and use heroic hastes..

Yes if the person with cruel knife has gara poison set the best dps gear and rings, he might outdps an extra 60 piercing with around 200 extra speed lol

If they are high enough to have a gara set, anyone of equal lol could pack on str and easily outdps someone using cruel knife with 60 more pierce

The only reason cruel knifes out dps meteoric+ daggers is because the cruel knife has a ton of OP dmg gear while the meteoric player doesn't even have an offhand. I have tried the cruel knife builds, they all suck 100+

I know this is a necro, but I can't help but pitch in my 2 cents:

As a knuckleblade rogue, I totally agree that you should find what works for you. No, I don't do nearly as much auto damage as someone my level using a dagger or spear, but I enjoy the extra speed without spending gold on a haste ring. As for essence blade build, I did have a primal blade for a little while (mostly because I was desperate for regens and couldn't find a dagger of slaying from a player), and I did enjoy the 5 more hp per tick, but since I was using knucks I couldn't afford for my dmg to be any lower. I could see it working for some people's play styles, and I'm big on finding what works for you.

No weapon can get below 1100 as that is the speed cap.

That's a minuscule difference, and you have obviously not heard of the 1100 speed cap
