Level 1-20 just doing starter quests takes maybe hour+ shalemont quest line takes 3 hours maybe less maybe more since you have to do some grinding all in all maybe 10 hours of straight playing

10 hours? i dont think that will take so long.

If ur lucky and u find everything u need (and follow quests, that arent repeatable, and only directed by the npc's, dont just go to random NPC with quest and ask for quest, those usually suck, except for a few), lirs will take pretty fast, u will get to havger quickly, which is lvl 20, mostly as a rogue, should take less than an hour (if u get some help on certain mobs, some directions, even better)
then cata, try to end quickly with cata (should be done by lvl 26 or so), do the last lirs quest, be like 27, and go to shale.

Shale will lvl u quickly, with enough luck (luck is an important factor here, u will need to wait for some quest mobs) u can do most of them quickly, when u need to wait for something to spawn, go and stab some mobs.

First quests can be annoying (dont wait for the defector, if u see one, just go there and try to group or ask some high lvl, if u cant find help, leave it), like sashman, but u can kill lots of mobs quickly while waiting, u should be 35 imo very quickly, go for mostly 1 or 2 stars mobs, they die quickly, and it wont bother u get xp, u just kill and kill and kill and lvl.

In between quests and mobs, collect the fettlecaps, very fast xp, which makes the lvling to 50 and generally lvling at shal so much easier, i find it faster since u dont get all the crap and talks at lirs and needing to buy stuff every sec, u just go and lvl.

Once ur done with the camp (lvl 38 i assume, even 40) u have greygorge, my 2nd favorite part, easy quests, many easy mobs (horses, those that give keys) which die quickly and give great xp, the quests are easy to do, all of them, and lots of fast xp, u will fly with lvls there.

Then u get to ribbonswords and u will be 47-50 by thaat time, killing ribbonswords is my favorite part, they die so fast, there are many (the duelists and fencers too), they give great xp for ur lvl, just by killing them (and doing the ribbons quest) u will be lvl 52+ pretty fast, with every class ive had (and i had tons of noobies), ribbonswords were my favorite mobs and always made it so much easier, the quests after them, coldseers and etc. are annoying, and they take a bit more time, but u will be 50 by then.


10 hours is insane imo, if u actually do it well (if u got a lvling partner, find one, better be a druid or mage, it'll be much faster), im sure it'll take few hours, more than 3, maybe 5-6, but 10? I played 3 hours a day on my first 3 days and got to 41, and i didnt know unfathomable on how to play, i spent so much time wandering around doing useless quests, not knowing how to end quests, didnt know about fettles and all of that. U came to forums right away, u made a smart move, it'll be easier.

10 hours doesn't actually sound too far off the mark. We have to remember that no lux or plat means no regen, only relying on recup, bandage and meditate. Maybe using the tavern once you reach there. Transport is slow, kills are slow, waiting for regen is even slower and don't forget the constant trips to merchant because you'd only have 10 backpack slots.

Took me about 10 hours to grind to 40 in the catacombs on a new world(meaning no lux/lix) if you're from the ladder you know what I'm talking about.
