is assassinate a good skill to use for pvp and when leveling?

Can use at lvl 1 for relatively good damage, although not very good for training, it's slow cast, can only be cast once, cooldown is slow, best use is in long endgame boss kills when tank holds aggro and there will be few times can be cast. Lvl 180+ endgame skill is my opinion

Good for bosses. Not so much anywhere else

Personally i don't like assassinate. It is awesome damage but the cost of such power is only being able to cast it when your targets health has 30% or less HP, which for me is completely useless to me because it cant be used for getting the lock on any mob or boss. And on my server its always a race for which clan gets the lock first. As for using it while leveling still not worth it because on 85% of the mobs i can kill the mob with auto and/or other skills faster than assassinate can cast. And i don't do anything with pvp so i cant answer that part.

I recommend only using assassinate with a spear. That way the dmg will go through the roof. However, in doing so you will lose sneaky beacuse its only useable with dagger. Unless u have say... Both a dl dagg and a nice mordris spear, i which case you can swap when needed.

It's basically only good on end game bosses or for a max skill hit, which you can only get around end game. Stick with ss/qs/ls/fr for levelling and don't bother with pvp as it's currently extremely unbalanced.

not for pvp the dmg is low and the casting time is crap.

Just putting it out there, I find assassinate to be a major asset in PVP for taking down tank built warriors, just because the amount of damage It deals can slightly overpower their armour towards the end of the fight.

Plus you don't need alt books all the time
