I like axes better than blunt for lvling cuase the faster atk.
i use auto atk after shatter on most mobs cuae most 1 star so fast killing.
and use skill only on 3/2 star mob to save mana.
But i think its the dps overall.

Yes, if you can go axe, the speed helps with dps. I still say that someone can rupture with the flat of a blade though- I know that from experience... But yes, my warrior ends up using that pattern or perhaps one skill in addition to shatter. (he is almost pure tank though so he needs a lil help dmg wise sometimes)

ive seen many warriors using the ancient wyrmbone hammer, with melee of 1k or so no shatter, yet while using my axe i outdpsed them and so as almost any other axe user, i dont like hammers
rupture is also weapon delay if i remember correctly, so it is also slower (the dmg is higher, no change for dot dmg i think)
also i dont like spears, not just it doesnt have rupture, it is too slow imo, altough theres the way of using skewer, and it is the best one for double attack

melees is prob ur main dmg at long fights (i usually kill the 1* or 2* bolgs after shatter+rupture+double+pummel and sometimes a melee or two)
i always prefer speed as long as the dmg is reasonable
