190+ tanking choices

#1
Okay now this has been on my mind for quite some time and i would like some of you're openions.
Now there are 2 main types of tanks - Tanks who rely more on health and have a large amount of health or tanks who rely more on defence and have a huge defence and a moderate amount of health.
Now im only talking about tanks who are 190+, have full DL and have a full vit build.
As a person who doesnt like to pop combos or even a hp regen lix while tanking if theres a druid, i felt the need to ask some experienced people about theyre openions on this topic.
Now im not talking about tanking mordris because thats a class apart and purely for professionals. Im talking about mostly all the dl boses and aggy and maybe to an extent even hrungnir but thats only on a very rare occasion.

Pure Health tank -
Ammy - Icecrystal Pendant of the Glacial Peak - 675 Hp
Charm - Godly bathide charm - 900 Hp
Braces - Royal vital bracers of smiting - 500 Hp x 2 ( Not saying godly because theres no chance in hell hrungnir will drop it)
Rings - 4 Godly sunfire Hp rings - 500 x 4
Armour - Dl armour excluding helm - 1500 Hp without the helm
Helm - Voidscale helm of the Bastion - 1250 + 1500 Hp
Main hand weapon - Void____ Halberd of Vitality - 1250 Hp
Offhand Weapon - Shield of Bastion - 500 hp

Full vitality build with 10 str and 10 Dex for a 193 tank would be an exact 6000 hp

Total Health and Defence - 16575 Health with 670 Defence

Full defence tank -
Ammy - Icecrystal Pendant of the North Wind - 200 Defence
Charm - Icecrystal Brooch of the Spark - 250 Defence
Braces - Royal Shielded bracers of Deflection - 700 Defence (Because Hrungnir will not drop a godly)
Rings - 3 Radiant Earthstone Defence rings and 1 Spectral ring of the reaper - 750 Defence, 15% boost to total Defence
Armour - Dl armour excluding Helm 650 Defence
Helm - Voidscale helm of night - 1400 Defence
Main hand weapon - Void_____ Halberd of dexterity - 400 Defence

Full vitality build with 10 str and 10 Dex for a 193 tank would be an exact 6000 hp. Not adding any more Dex as it wouldn't help much.

Total Defence and Health - 5025 Defence with 9750 Health

So which Tank build would you prefer and why? And I know that most of these items are extremely rare and hard to get but it's just a matter of building yourself into you're perfect build.
Which build do you think will be easier to tank with without using any combos or hp Regens ?
Please do not say that mixing the 2 builds will be better because it might and it might not but i just want answers to these 2 builds.

And btw thank you for you're patience for reading this till the end lol ( If you did :p)

I would say the full Vitality set up is better. As a tank you would get ample defense/armor from your skills like defensive formation, protective stance and additional bonuses from full dl armor. I have tried various amounts of dexterity to add to defense and it seems to make little difference on higher level mobs. I think the full vitality build with a few defense items is the right mix, is the best bet for success. I am not a full tank, but I have seen the best ones in action. I think Aileron from Avalon or some other top main tanks may be able to clarify something I am missing or to expound on what I have posted.

try to mix both as much as possible, i prefer vit for same reason, defence is most likely from gear and skills, altough i would want to see someone with the defence setup + good abudance + maybe abudant aura + maybe gaston's pie on, could be strong

What im talking about is completely unbuffed build here. Of course with other classes buffing you up and with a combo and a pie you're health will be insane! But essentially im looking to not depend much on pies and combos.

i would also say a mix of both is better, because with only around 6k hp 2 skill hits from a boss could kill you. also our best tank is using a mixed build (i think so).

None of the above builds have 6 k hp. The full health build has 17000 and the full defence build has 10000. 6 k would be too low i agree

alright im not sure about this but the new vitality ring sold in the yule lux shop (the +75 one) may be better than the godly sunfire ring
but you can only equip one so youll still need 3 godly sunfires

Flametongue - level 62 Mage

The new vit ring might be better because of the resists but it only gives 468.75 hp but i could never use it because i really like to keep things even and it would screw around in my mind if i had 469 hp instead of 500.

This is pure fantasy, for me anyway, because there are only 2 Godly Sunfire rings on our server and no Godly Bathides dropped at all.

The dex ammy also seem better because it has energy regen which tanks sorely need and if you dont want to rely on energy lixes or restore pots like I do, then the samhain ammy or talisman of stars are alternative options as well.

Nevertheless, I would still go for a mixed build. I have a void dex helm and a void vit halberd and i have not yet bought any of the yule lux but at 12k unbuffed hp and 3k def (with def formation) is enough for Mordris. It may change eventually if I find that I need 20k hp for Necro which is certainly doable since I already hit 18k hp (buffed) and 3k def with my current gear and build.
