Re: Warhead's guide to a perfect tank

Lol i have to agree with Elim here. A fully devoted tank does not waste his time even thinking about his damage or damage skills. Enduring guard is a very powerful skill if u bothered maxing it fro. And in case u havnt wondered fro, but bosses repeat and cast all their skills in successsion every certain period of time. so for the right bosses if u time ur castin of enduring guard u can evade most their physical dmg skills even if it only lasts 30 secs, for example stonelord. Only issue with the skill is that there arent many important bosses to use it on effectively.

Warcry may or may not be maxd depending on your style of tanking, and how u deal with adds. I keep it low because we rarely have trouble with adds, but in the future that may change.

And fro, stay on topic. Op is talking about what makes a good tank, we're not here discussing one of your topics about the issues with warrior class.

So to sum it all up, a fully devoted tank imo should have:

Max vit

Highest possible armor (or defence if fighting low lvl bosses)
Max prot stance
Max taunt
Max/high enduring guard
Mid to high warcry
Lvl 1 Sweeping blow (have a look at the increment in dmg with each lvl as Elim said, its very low)
And remaining points into whatever you want.

What defer from my first post and yours ..... I add it shield bash and 1 skill hit ...
But as warrior i will never said a lvl 112 to go full pure tank..... And read i said to elim on his case he doesnt need damage skills.

But the original poster with how he explain his build you inmedietely understand is his main and he used for training.... Like i said u got think all lvls not high end .

Full vitality can work...
You need a source of defense however and if you don't have gear with bonuses to defense or dex (in addition to frozen armor), then I suggest you put some dexterity of your own. Otherwise, I think a rogue with the same stats and fast reflexes could survive longer even with less armor. But lets be realistic, warrriprs are obviously better suited for the job.

Let me ask you something. What is so useful about shieldbash's stun? Is it to stall damage for you to recover? That's what defense does for you ;)

A full tank is the perfect tank, and that means as defencive as possible (even if it mrans no offense). That being said, why would you not want to protect the others by insuring that you get aggro and keep it with a full taunt? What if you die for some reason whether it be a druid mistake? How do you expect to regain aggro from a rogue who has sat there hitting for 5 minutes? If that rogue dies, it would defeat the purpose of a tank (unless aoe skills).

The perfect tank would be better than a top tank. So which is better; 1 enduring guard or 15+? I agree with Elim on some things like why would a tank use giant swing? Tanking isnt about leveling or to do dps.

Just some constructive info, don't take it personally.

Im with you but the only reason i have sheild bash is that if a druid makes a mistake i can stun it so the have that critical amount of time to heal me. I can beat alot of people you also have to max your mele combat along with sowrd ability.

Well the build i put out was for idol tank .

You ask what is a idol tank.

Some clans don't have druids or enough druids to do certain bosses and heavy rely on idols thats Underdog clans . Usually is the work idol tank as any other tank to protect his clan mates. But here were different from a pure tanks with heals.

So you ask why a idol tank need damage skills and shield bash i will explain.

Shield bash and taunt after you died will retake aggro immediately same as a high damage skill. Thats how the game dinnamics works. When trying to reset a boss. You will need more then taunt to keep from higher lvl tank tryin to reset a kill then os were bash comes to place .

To tanks figthing for aggro my build and skills steal aggro prove it on my server again tanks with 50 taunt and me only 38 they have to calm me to retake aggro continuously and always retake it with high damage skills and taunt We are ffa. Server .

For me the perfect tank is the one can do his job with or without heals .

But like i said .....

Personally, I believe it's better to be a complete badass at one thing than to be an Average Joe in many things in CH.

Some classes are built for DPS, some are for HEALING, and some are for TANKING.

This is the reason why I have maxed Stance, Warcry, Taunt, and Shield bash. I'm also full vit, with a 50 vit aggra trident, and the best 75 vit bracelet available for me. I know having dex becomes useful at some point, but I believe shield bash will make up for the extra evades you get from having dex.

Most big bosses use skills anyway. My fortitude and warding are nearly maxed, so I evade a good fraction of them.

I can solo most red PHs, so I can hunt on my own.

I don't have to worry about having DPS, as I have a clan with great DPS.

It's more impressive, to me, to be good at one role than to try and outdo everybody else's.
