I am new and still trying to understand the finer points of the game mechanics here.
When I played Dark Age of Camelot about a decade ago, there was some debate early on in the game, which was better a slow or fast weapon assuming the same DPS? I was in the fast weapon camp. However, once we started doing the math and analyzing the game mechanics it became clear that slow was better. I ran simulations that tried to include all aspects of the mechanics (although the numbers may not have been exactly correct) that included things like random misses, random damage per hit (within a certain range)...etc. The reason that slow was better is that there was no delay on the first hit. This gave a big advantage to a slower weapon. If the mob had a lot of hp and took a long time to kill then the differences essentially leveled out. But for most mobs and even PvP, slow was clearly better and actual DPS was higher. If the slow weapon missed a lot, it was not better but the miss rate had to be very high, over 50%. The slow weapon users complained about misses but they only remember that one mob that they had trouble with and forget about the 20 other mobs they just mowed through.
It seems that the few people that I talked to feel that fast is better but I have seen no analysis. It there a first hit delay in CH?
