Hammered armor drops from the 6* mobs in dustwither. The hammered redclaw may give a little health, but the extra armor from the ancient will alway win over the little extra health from the hammered. It is not worth bringing together a whole bunch of low levels to kill a boss that doesn't need a full tank just to get armor worse than your current armor.
Especially when you can make a far better leveling build, by the time you got to 50 you would be much, much higher and would be a better tank with your leveling build then a level 50 "tank".
Most of that was replying to his "tank" guide, take a look.

Most of us think of bosses as dom lavalord aggy mordy hrung necro. I get what your saying but seriously just get to level 70 on a dps/hybrid build and then solo dustwither without pots, druids, lixs, or anybody else just go for it. you can take out the catas in about 5 minutes 1-2 bosses included lol
Anyway... more on topic.
Ancient plate is the best ancient armor at your level. That said you can get through to warden set on redclaw I think. Up to whether or not you want to spend money or not.

Ok you report my post about saying gtfo yet you say this? Lol
There is no tanking going on at level 25. A mage can tank those "bosses" , no need to ruin your build. Now i apologize for getting off topic and bring this back to your other topic.

I (personally) prefer hammered redclaw with the lowered weight, moderate armor, and health bonus i dont like ancient warrior armor except for wrymbone and plate

The extra armor from the ancient will always be better. And with your 2/3 foc vit build, there is no way you are having energy problems, lol.
And you do have ancient plate, so again another reason to not ruin your build over a "boss" that doesn't need to be tanked.
I think you only "prefer" it so you can have an argument to ruin your build over tanking mobs that dont need to be tanked.

anc scale is better for the armor and resists
that said i would use the hammered redclaw as it doesnt require any money
the only bosses you can tank mylittle at lvl 25 are the dustwither bosses and defectors
and urgan the wretched
you cant tank any bosses that people actually want to kill that give decent drops
