Sorry to invade your big buff tough guy world here but this geeky mage has a question about strength so I thought you guys would be best to ask.

Would you please un equip yourselves and then post what your strength and damage are please. i am trying to figure out exactly just how much strength effects damage. I cant believe with all the posts on this forum I cant find any correlation between the two.

I am a buff mage with a naked Strength of 20 and damage of 7 and can beat you over the head with my toothpick of a wand for a whopping max 25. (With a little 64 point fire cloak to help of course)

Strength acts as a multiplier to damage bonuses.

My rouge has 38 damage with 180 str and a cruel knife. But when I equip my golden axe of carnage, my damage goes past 100.

WHAT?!?!?!?!?

220 strength and only 9 damage? That makes no sense at all. What is strength for then? unless it is only to qualify to use certain weapons or does it effect the weight you carry?

is that 180 with or without the knife? what is it unarmed?

If anybody is about to use a book of rebirth please apply changes one point at a time and try to figure out what changes with each point. Especially look at your total energy equipped vs not equipped. I think strengths major contribution is to how much energy it takes to equip heavy gear instead of damage.

Cruel knife with 180 str, I have 38 damage.
Cruel knife, golden axe of carnage (17 slash dmg), and 180 str, I have over 100 damage.

Ok given the data I have collected I have come to the following conclusions.

STR has two purposes in the game and neither has to do with adding damage.
1. It allows you to use items with a str requirement (this does effect damage but it is the weapon not the STR)
2. It allows you to carry heavier stuff for less of an energy loss however it takes about 4 pts of str to get the same energy as 1 pt of Focus so if you want energy buy focus.

Conclusion, you should never buy any more STR than is needed to use your favorite stuff.

(The energy solution is nonlinear so I used a first order linear approximation to model the effects.)

I dont think so...
Blaze is right
It is a multiplier
no matter what, your punch is 9, i beileve
but with the slashing damage and stuff it mutiplies
making strength good for dpses
