I get many questions on wether to use an axe or dagger as an offhand and here is what I have to say: Use a dagger if you rely on your autos for dps, ecpecially if you use a spear (halberd) due to the faster attack speed, the psn and pierce dmg will take more effect as you land more hits and the extra dex will boost your chances to land a hit. Also, attack speed boost the 180/200 dagger gives will allow you to throw in another ring other than a haste ring. Use the axe if you rely more on your skills and use an axe/blunt weapon. The str the axe has to offer will boost the damage of your rupture/giant swing/sweep. I do not recommend using the axe if you rely on autos for dmg because mobs have a high resist towards heat/cold/magic dmg Vs. the poison damage that many mobs have no resistance towards.

This is more focused towards mid game players

Use the dagger as long as ur not a tank, period. Bunch of pointless reasoning, dagger is better cus Frenzy, whether ur axe/hammer user or spear user.

Why use a dagger while using a blunt weapon and sometimes even an axe? The slower attack speed doesn't make the psn dmg as effective, therefor making the axe more effective because the extra elemental dmg and str boosts your dmg making skills such as rupture, giant swing, sweep or double attack more effective. ummmmm... Ok? I still don't understand how a dagger would be better than an axe for a blunt user... Wheres the logic in that?

Just use the axe. Its obviously better because axe and blunt is a genius idea. Really tho, u asked dagger vs axe, I said dagger. If u dont want to use dagger, dont make a dagger vs axe in the first place, just say 'axe rules'. It doesnt matter what weapon u will use, the dagger is superior as long as ur on dps build.

Dagger is better dps for any strength based build no matter your mainhand weapon. Was better with my void focus spear (hey a void is a void lol) and better with my dark gele str axe and the shadow ice str spear I use for event locking.

But like Crim said, use whatever you want to. No one can make you change gear if you don't want to.

What i'm saying is, use an axe if you rely on your skills for damage. Dagger only gives you psn and piercing damage to go towards your damage where as the axe adds both str and a good amount of elemental damage to go towards your damage. Skills such as rupture use your total damage, making the axe more effective as an offhand. The dagger is good for faster attacking weapons such as a spear or sword. Rogues prefer to use daggers over axe because the psn and piercing damage are very effective thanks to the the fast attacking speed of the dagger. It's pretty much common sense, it's why you see a majority of warriors use the dagger while using a spear and the warriors that use an axe or blunt weapon prefer to use an axe offhand. Again this was a post for midgame players, that being said you can take out gele axes out of the mix.

Gele axe is still slower than spear. If u rely on skills as a warrior, quit being a warrior. And even then with Double Attack being ur top skill, dagger is better.
