nOOb Questions

#1
Hi ya'll, couple of questions from a new player...

I'm trying to figure out the best armor and wep's for my character (currently trying out a ranger.) And I'm a little confused about a couple of things.
1) I know there are light and heavy armors, but I'm not seeing where it show's if there is a penalty for wearing the wrong kind of armor. i.e. if I'm a dex based ranger, is there a penalty for wearing a heavy armor etc? Or in the reverse, is there a bonus for the high dex and running in my briefs?

2) How does the weight of the armor effect me? Or what effect could it have?

3) My other question is about weapon speed, am I looking for a higher or lower number? And again, how does the weight of the weapon effect me?

Thanks for the info!

I'll just sum this up. You don't really have to worry about weight, a few points into focus will help that. Armor comes before weight. Weight reduces your energy. There is no penalty or bonus for wearing any kind of armor, besides weight and armor boosts.

Weapon speed - You want the lowest number. Better weapons will generally be slower(with a higher number), but if there is a significant boost in pierce damage then go for it. (Pierce, slash and crush damage all stack with your strength, giving it better damage then any different types of damage.)

1000 attack speed takes 1 second to attack. 2000 takes 2 seconds. And so on

I could be wrong, but I think weight of items only affects your energy.
Kimloc -142 druid
Locke - 220+ rogue
Persephone - 187 ranger
ShawShanked - 144 rogue
Machiavelli - 160 warrior
Fiddler - 95 ranger
Tattersail - 110 mage
Goethe - 83 druid
Chaucer - 4 mage

I would suggest you go for a str ranger as you wont need to worry about energy as much but still have good damage, as for the best weapon divide the weapon speed by the attack and which ever one gives a higher number use that. As for your armor continue using the quest armor given to you by sergeant grumpshot (one in front of the temple) and also others nps around lirs on the main quest line. If your able to find some generous high levels they may have some spare high road items lying around their banks so thats good armor, but dont buy armor at all until about lvl 50-60 and dont get tempted by things like clouds and useless items like that
