So we are all excited for update 4,right? I am somewhat scared. My only device is a second generation ipod and i was wondering if the update is compatable with my ipod.

From what ik is that community has said in the past that this update will be compatible with the second gen but in the near future apple may require them to stop supporting this device. So when they go to submit the update they may be required to not support the second gen.

Update 4 will work with 2nd gen iPod, iPhone 3G etc.

Update 5 will no longer support these devices because of apple forcing the older devices to be dropped to have compatibility with newer devices.

I soooooo hate apple doing this sort of crap all the time, it's the main way they basically get us to keep spending money on their sub-par devices.
Bring on a port to Android please so I can finally rid myself of the apple baggage I have.

That is a greedy move on apples part...

Apple just moves faster in upgrading their iOS and dropping support for older devices. It's the same with Microsoft and Windows, they just give users more time to upgrade, like Windows XP support will end in 2014 and less games will also run on it as OS/graphics technology improve. Nature of the beast.

So it will run on ipodtouch 4g
