Is there still a downloadable version supported by 2nd gen iOS?

No not anymore only way to download the app is through the apple store and apple has stopped support for that device. no apps with updated software will be available for download with the 2nd gen iPod touch.

Boo!!! Yea I found out the hard way when I tried a restore on my iPod and then learned app required 4.3 iOS. Once again Boo!!!!!!!!

Apple now allows you to download old versions of apps. You can download it from the app store now

Update 4 is called Dragonfire

So if you had a older version of CH, but still new enough to be update 4, it would work on old devices

it doesn't work, it just says update instead of install and it said "This app requires IOS 4.3."

Then I'm afraid you can't play ch on your ipod. Using an older version will not be possible because those won't connect to the server the game is on.
If you are able to run the app to the log in screen it will be searching for the patch server after logging in I think. And the updated app needs the IOS 4.3.

I'm pretty sure that if OTM wanted to make the effort, they could produce a version for download from their own servers that doesn't require the Apple updates.
Fames can be made and downloaded privately if the creator so chooses.
