I have an HTC One and in game my keyboard pops up but no words nor does it show up on chat window.

OTM are working on a fix - I have the same issue. If you download GO Keyboard from the Play store, it is a temporary fix.

The next patch will have an in-app keyboard you can enable if you run into keyboard trouble.

While being on the subject.. Sometimes when i switch areas i go to type but key board wont pull up. If it does it wont type.. But other than that its fine but kinda annoying restarting app constantly

The new keyboard should fix your issue as well as the keyboard not opening is due to a memory issue. The new keyboard should not suffer from this problem.

Not liking the new keyboard design.. keys are touchy and much too small..

It is a work in progress and will be improved over time. First priority was getting a keyboard in that would work for people on devices that have native keyboard issues (HTC One, Motorola RAZR etc.) so they could use chat.

Over the next period of time this will be refined as there are still large differences in how some devices use the keyboard. It is not easy to get the keyboard to function well across all devices but we will continue to work on it.

This happens often with me. The issue is fixed my closing the app and restarting

Have you tried using the alternative keyboard? This can be turned on by going to Menu - Options - Other and then unchecking the Use Native Keyboard option.
