Hey, i am an older player and i wanted to come back on to see the new graphics and event stuff. I downloaded the game signed in and chose my character but in between me getting into the game the game always crashes. I have tried restarting my device and deleting and reinstalling the app any ideas as to what i can do?

Many suggest to free up some space by clearing cache. Close unused running apps. Also if you can state the device you're using might be helpful.
Quite a few had issue with crashing on ipod 3, 4 iphone 4 etc.

Ahh iphone 4. There is a link here where others have reported crashing. It may not be on your end at the moment. They been working on trying to fix these issues.
So you can report it link below with stating the device you use like you just told me and IOS version.

Thanks for the help! Looks like lots of people are having the same issues but they seem to be working on it. Hopefully I'll be aboe to play soon.
