Who is proteus

Ive heard of a future boss called proteus. Who is he and where will he spawn? Is he going to be an end game?
Proteus is a new floor 6 boss in Gelebrons Arcane Sanctum!
He will be spawning in one of the side rooms on the journey towards Gelebron
