This was an interesting question to answer, thanks for asking. Had to go log into Avabel to remind myself of everything.
In Avabel I found it is pretty easy to get good items as they drop commonly and you could buy them from the auction house, and only takes about 1-2 months of casual playing to reach end game.
Here in Celtic Heroes, its going to be a challenge to get the best items in the game as the drop rates are very low and nobody really sells them (auction house is something that will be added to this game in the future). It will also take you a lot longer to get to end-game.
I think the chat system in Celtic Heroes is very similar to but also is a lot better than Avabel's. It is more simple and easy to use, and community is a much larger part of this game.
There is a very very strong focus on cosmetics and character looks in Avabel.
There isn't as much of a focus in this game, but we have many more cosmetic options than Avabel has and you don't have to pay real money to get them.
The controls are pretty similar. You have a chatbox and some menu options, a joystick, and skills, with the majority of the screen taken up by a third person view of the character.
I found there to be a lot of delay in Avabel, with my character or screen moving slow and hard to control. The controls and interfaces here are a lot easier to navigate, have almost no delay, and look much better.
Celtic Heroes doesnt have anywhere near the questing or achievements Avabel has. The main quests here aren't fun to do, but are required to do in order to get the best items. The quests in Avabel were pretty enjoyable and gave you useful items, not items that were required in order to progress in the game. I think this is one of the major pitfalls of this game. Avabel had many different ways to play, you could grind levels or do quests or go for achievements. Here in Celtic Heroes theres really only one way to progress in the game and it gets pretty boring.
More fun, in depth questing is currently being added into the game so we are quickly catching up.
The combat system in Avabel was more in depth, as you were able to navigate around attacks and jump or roll out of the way. Here, you just have to stand in one place and accept the incoming attacks.
One new feature of Avabel I hadn't seen before was the ability to capture, share, and watch videos straight from the app. Thats a great feature and I think this game should implement something similar.
(@Muldar, game sharing through integrated video capturing is actually one of the cool features of iOS 10, so you guys should definitely work on getting that into the game)
Overall, the games are pretty similar, but I do think this one is better simply because of the ease of use, community, and clean interfaces. Unfortunately, there's not as much to do and, once you reach near end-game, a majority of your time will be spent just talking to people instead of playing the game. But the road to end-game should be pretty enjoyable and is getting better with each update.
I think you are really going to like how many options there are for customising what your character wears. I would suggest joining a world that has a strong economy and not too much drama. Epona would be a good choice.
PM me and I will do my best to help you with whatever you need.
